I think there's going to be a lot of that in the early years of NIL. Companies way overpaying for not just players but fucking freshman recruits coming into college for the first time. Anyone else reading stories quoting high school coaches who are having reservations about the NIL/transfer thing? Seems a lot of schools who need to fill a hole are opting to go find a guy in the transfer portal who has a year or two of actual college experience rather than sign even a highly rated high school player who likely couldn't be of much help immediately. According to the high school coaches, it's knocking a lot of players down to maybe 1-2 attractive offers instead of a wide range of schools who would otherwise have an interest in signing a young guy and developing him. Everyone will be using all their scholarships but the fallout is when a school simply doesn't have the scholarships left over for high school players after signing transfers. Some high school coaches are going to start lobbying for higher scholarship limits to alleviate the problem.
