Broncos signed Randy Gregory, formerly of the Cowboys, to a five-year, $70 million contract.

There are usually a couple of players who change their minds during the "legal tampering" period every year, but this move is more unusual than most given the official Twitter account for the Cowboys announced the deal just minutes before news of a contract with the Broncos broke. Regardless of how he got there, Gregory is going to offer some much needed pass-rush punch opposite Bradley Chubb for Denver's defense. The Gregory signing would seemingly put to bed any thoughts of Von Miller returning to the Broncos.

Yikes. Talk about overpay.

Without firsthand knowledge, I'm saying Gregory agreed with Dallas then took that agreement to Denver and said " Equal this, without the drug suspension clause, and he'll sign with them."

If he stays clean, it's not an overpay. I'm betting he's still toking up and was afraid of the drug clause Dallas added.

Terms were the same but Dallas had verbiage that would allow them to wipe guarantees if he were fined by the NFL. Smart move to add that. Apparently that same clause was in his last contract with Dallas, but Randy's agent is pretending it has never been in an NFL contract before and is upset because Dak doesn't have that clause. Well, Dak hasn't been suspended over and over again.

I'm glad Randy got that amount, and even more glad Dallas isn't paying it. DEN is going to regret that contract. Randy is going to regret actually making 4.5% less than he would have in Dallas because of CO income tax.

Cowboys signed DE Dante Fowler.

Fowler reunites with DC Dan Quinn, who overlapped with Fowler as head coach of the Falcons in 2020. Released from Atlanta after registering 7.5 sacks in two seasons, Dallas is buying low on Fowler with the hope he'll rebound in Quinn's scheme. Fowler will help fill the pass-rush void left by ex-Cowboys DE Randy Gregory leaving for Denver this offseason.

Another one.

Cowboys signed WR James Washington to a one-year contract.

Washington returns to his home state of Texas where he played in high school. The 2018 second-rounder and former Biletnikoff winner was buried on the depth chart during his Steelers tenure, starting 25 games and averaging under 50 targets in three-of-four seasons. With Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson gone and Michael Gallup coming off knee surgery, the Cowboys offer a clearer path to targets for Washington, who turns 26 next month. Washington ran 33% of his routes in the slot last year, where he projects for snaps in Dallas, and will compete to start opposite CeeDee Lamb if Gallup isn't ready for Week 1.
