They increased prices $9.95 or so last spring when they added Disney+ and ESPN+.

They're now upping it another $5.

I wonder how much of this is being driven by these new media rights deals.

Obviously ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, ESPN would have to charge cable, satellite, and streaming services more for their content.

Either way I'm still appx $150/month with internet and streaming combined for everything that I need or care about.

What I get would easily be over $200/month on cable or satellite service.

do you have BTN plus? just curious I'm not wasting my money on it right now

As long as I can afford it, I’ll stick with Direct. Went to a buddies house to watch the game with a bunch of people. Dude’s house is streaming only. The amount of buffers and the lag in general was more than I could deal with.

I told him he should at least hook up an antenna for when the games are on network stations like it was on Saturday

He has a wifi problem and needs a booster. The only issue with streaming is it’s about 5 minutes later than live so you’ll phone calls and don’t want to answer them because something happened.

Sling went up another $5 next month too.

Must be a Disney thing since they had a spat with Disney and now Disney themselves are charging more.

Yaaaaa inflation.

I'm at $115 for Gig Internet, Sling and the Disney+ bundle. Not awful.

No, just the HULU package listed above, and currently no plans for any add ons.

Outside of CFB I don't watch much tv. I could drop HULU from February - August and not miss it much since I've got 20 something broadcast channels and local news would be there.

He must have shitty internet speed or too many devices using it.

I watch more games broadcast over the air than I do streaming (ESPN (2), FS1, CBSSN, etc.

Judging by the tv ratings for CFB, so does the rest of America. It's actually a better picture and no delay compared to satellite or streaming.

:ninja:
Mine's actually only a minute (maybe 2), but yeah when my buddy calls during a game (he's on satellite) I have to tell him to STFU because he's ahead of me.

When I'm using my digital antenna and he's on satellite, he's telling me to STFU because he's now the one delayed.

Psst hey guys! The cost for these services are always going to go up. When was the last time your cable or satellite provider lowered their price (short term promo's excluded)?

The cost of business increases therefore they are in turn going to make you pay for it as the customer. Cable and dish long had the market cornered with pricing until streaming became widely available. Now streaming is doing the same thing

DERRRR, no shit, Sherlock. Did you learn that in 9th grade business class?

The services go up because the network providers raise their prices to carry their content.

You can be sure these networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, ESPN) are passing on the increased costs of these media rights deals to cable, satellite, streaming, services.

They're also passing the increased costs onto advertisers for those that watch the majority of their sports over the air.

If it's such common knowledge why are you so butthurt about it that you had to start a thread to tell everyone? Let alone on the wrong forum?

Same Fam, I mostly watch games over broadcast. I get enough football that way.

And then I can spoil things for others in the game threads

HA!!

The only "butthurt" is yours because I pointed out the 9th grade business acumen you were so proud to share.

^^^ THAT ^^^ in Post #2 is anything but "butthurt".

If streaming gets to costing as much as cable/satellite I'll consider going back to them.

I see why you asked that now.

No, I'm not paying for BTN+ just to see Nebraska play Maine and UNO in basketball.

I'll just have to sacrifice until the 17th when they're on FS1 @ St Johns.

I guess I should follow the score. I’m sure we are going to win this one close

I get ESPN+ automatically in my HULU package.
If there's one thing I'm disappointed about is the Big 10 going with BTN+ rather than ESPN+.

It'll definitely limit viewership.

This is all the ESPN+ content I have access to tonight.

I pay $10 for Disney. Internet is $35 a month for 100 mbps

This time of year I’ll get Fubo for a month or 2 for college b-ball

That’s it
