Not so much with the conversations, I'd just sit and listen. By the time I got up here, most of his younger day friends that served in the war were already gone. He was the only one that I knew that was still left.

WWII vets just unanimously seem to be at peace with themselves. Probably because they won and were happy to come home.

Regarding "conversations", I'm an 8 year vet myself with 2 campaign badges. A lot of military humor is universal and stands the test of time. Boot camp, different ways newbs in the field were initiated, the chow hall, etc. It's a brotherhood/sisterhood regardless of age.
