Anyone ever see a movie in 4DX?

Never even knew such a thing existed until today. Might go and see The Batman tomorrow in 4DX to try it out for the first time. It sounds so ridiculous I can't believe it's real. The chairs move throughout the movie, chairs shoot water and mist at you, the theater will fill with smoke, lights will flicker and it will even emit different scents. It almost sounds like an amusement park ride.

My guess is that it’s a gimmick that works for horror and action movies in a very limited way. Theaters were already hemorrhaging before the pandemic and anyone can have a 55” 4k screen with decent sound for less than $500 nowadays. The theater experience is increasingly obsolete with streaming too. Something has to exist get people to leave their homes.
 
I didn’t know it was a thing until I went to see Sheng Chi in one of those theaters. I lasted less than 5 minutes. Left the theater and got tix to a different showing.

It is intended for 6 year olds, I think.

This is exactly what these things are. They even have little air-jets built into the seats To blow in your ear.




You know, now that I think about it, watching an adult film in one of these might be worth the experience…
