I've used Raspberry Pi's at work for various independent computing operations that don't need network domain integration. Never used one as a keyboard base though. Neat concept.
 
You get what you pay for.
 
I am a fan of the Beagleboned Black. Better performance but you have to embrace the dark mistress known as Linux. Same goes for Python.
