Do they measure a QB slide from where he begins the slide?
I like that. I have seen on one of those NFL shows where they showed how Peyton Manning was great at the QB slide. One clip they showed was where he was going down the sideline (which makes me now wonder how he ever got out there) and needed 3-4 yards for a first down and he did a QB slide for 5-6 yards. Ever since then, I thought it should be measured from where he began the slide.Yes.

I am not a big fan of the slide.
I like how they say how it is a safety thing, but if they get hit, it is the most unsafe position you can be in. You take your own base away so if you get hit, your head hits the ground. You loosen your muscles, so it is easier to get internal damage. I am all for lowering your shoulder or go out of bounds.I'd be fine with it if you could clobber the slider.
I think Oregon got down there quicker than that returner that threw the ball expected.
I think for Oregon, instead of scoring quickly, they should just take time off before scoring.
