what a fucking snooze fest.

My review from the other site...

Cot Damn, Zach Snyder likes him his long azz’d movies. WAY too long for the quality. About 90 mins in, I was looking at the clock wondering when it would end. A deep sigh was had when I saw 60 mins remained.

I am not a HUGE fan of the “Smart/Fast zombie” sub genre, but this one looked like it would have some brain dead entertainment value. Meh. I didn’t care about any of the characters. All they did to increase tension was to ramp up the volume of screams and growls. Too many manufactured tension points.

3/10. And that is generous.

i stand by my review. it was weird to see it positively trending on twitter on friday. it looked so cheap. i saw people mentioning how gory it was, i don't recall any of that. they had a 10 minute long opening title, which pretty much showed how it was going to go, it's not getting better from here. they kept showing pictures of the black guy with the chainsaw, perhaps i fell asleep, but my only recollection of it being used was to cut through a fucking wall. so bad.

It was ok.

Zombie hierarchy : good idea
Setting up a heist : good idea
Putting together a team : good idea
Losing the pilot and editing in a new one after the fact : not a big deal

In between all of that and the final 1/3 of the movie, the writing just fell flat.

Either go ultra gory, ultra action entertainment, or ultra invest in the characters, but seems like Snyder tried to do a little bit of everything.
And that made it kind of ultra boring.

Really liked his Dawn of the Dead remake.

Then again, I was easily entertained by the last couple of Resident Evil movies, so......

Apparently there is some backstory to the production that I hadn’t heard. What’s the story?

Just finished. Took two days at work. Loooooooooooooooooooooong. No reason to be.

Standard dumb zombie movie with lots of violence.

Probably most redeeming quality was For a movie built on unrealistic it had a very realistic approach to slaughtering basically every character. Was not expecting everyone but the daughter to bite it.
