A’s eyeing Tropicana site for possible ballpark on the Vegas Strip.

I think if they move to Vegas they should just rename the whole team.

Las Vegas Athletics doesn’t sound right.

Just strictly be the A’s. Las Vegas A’s is a good name.
Ace's

Already a WNBA team called that.
I knew there was some team out there with that name...thought it was MiLB though

There are places in NorCal where wearing a Giants hat will correctly get you shot.

I am calling for this area to be expanded nationwide/
That’s pretty much the East Bay: Oakland, Richmond, etc.

You can get shot for pretty much anything there. The civilized parts of the Bay (the whole world, actually) support the Giants.

how many people have gotten shot attending a game in Oakland?

I would be against this. Tropicana is an affordable hotel in Vegas and in an awesome location. Build a stadium south of Mandalay Bay, there seems to be a ton of space and room in that general vicinity.

Good local insight. My first thought was “well, it worked out well for the Raiders”. But, if this needs strong public funding and voter approval I’m not sure I can see that happening soon.

I’m still greatly hoping for a world where civic leaders finally figure out it doesn’t risk their political careers to tell these sports to pound sand. At worst it would be a neutral effect.

While it would seem unfair happening to a small market baseball team I would love to see this be the ultimate line in the sand, and the A’s get no quarter from anyone.

Just tell them to moneyball a damn stadium.
Covid happened after the Raiders deal, and almost caused some errors issues with regards to not only revenue, but the construction completion that could have run into millions upon millions of dollars if not completed on time. Add to it the fact the money for the build was coming from a tax on rooms, that were empty, and they about ran out of money to build. That shit will not happen again.

Bad soil for building big structures out that way. Luxor itself has been sinking for decades. Underground water has caused issues in other part on the south end.

Interesting, but understandable point. But wouldn't that be the case for almost all soil in Vegas?

sounds like the current offer in Oakland is a good deal for both parties, so it is possible that the A's are doing this (as Peter said) to gain leverage

however, there it is also a slight possibility that the A's just want out of Oakland and they view a move to Vegas as a great opportunity

Hey bud - what's your hat size? Looks like you're on the nice list and deserve a new one.

I do like when a city has uniforms of all the same color scheme though...feels like Vegas was trying to go that route.
What city has uniforms of the same color?

Pittsburgh does. Steelers, Pirates, Penguins all the same colors (black and gold).

Seattle teams (Mariners, Seahawks, and Kraken) have similar colors, all variations of that blue/green.

DC is close except for the Football Team: Wizards, Nationals, Capitals, Mystics

then you have NY with Mets, Islanders, Knicks

Been 53 years since the Athletics last relocated, they're overdue for one.

Last time I was there the friend I was staying with said the Luxor has been sinking into the ground. Thought he meant metaphorically, didn't realize that it's literally sinking into the ground.
