B1G just missed chance for first National Title in a major sport played by the SEC in years

You are really riding them coattails, as Tennessee hasn't been a factor in anything for a long time.

Let the schools in the SEC that are relevant puff their chest out. :)

We are pretty much ranked and competing for the SEC in almost every major sport but we are not relevant.

Did you watch March Madness? Tennessee was one of only two schools to have both Men and Women's team make the Sweet 16 (the other being UConn). Our softball is ranked #2 right now and Baseball is a contender for Men's World Series. Football finished #6 in AP Poll. I would think that is relevant but I guess you have a strong definition.

I believe the post you made was in regards to SEC National Titles in major sports. Which sport has Tennessee contributed to for the SEC? A track and field title 20+ years ago? That's called being irrelevant in the talk about National Titles for the conference.

Also Tennessee has a more recent National Title in Football than Michigan... ouch...

EDIT: Also your data isn't even accurate as we have a National Championship in Rugby (2022) and Men's Tennis (2021) as well as back-to-back Women's Basketball Titles in 2007 and 2008 (that is in the past 20 years). If you are going to try insult comebacks, please at least get them right.

As a program, we are pretty on par with a B1G Powerhouse than as your entire league can't win titles. The ACC, Big12, Big East, and others have done better despite far less resources. All the arrogance of the B1G but the truth can't hurt.

In all seriousness, it is a fun jab at you guys because B1G fans can be really cocky about their "Super league" with all its money.

I don't put much thought into women's sports, as they only exist because the men's sports fund them. That being said -- congrats on the women's basketball title 15 years ago. Now can you get off of Alabama, Georgia, Florida, LSU, etc. nuts -- they are getting tired carrying you around pounding on your chest about the SEC on their achievements.

And yes -- Tennessee is definitely on par with Michigan, other than having 28 less national championships for their sports programs and close to 200 less individual national champions. Other than that -- we are exactly the same.:thumb:

You are wrong again. However, it is pretty funny that you have to compare an ENTIRE CONFERENCE against a single SEC institute.

The only program from the B1G to win a Football Title this Century is Ohio State. Yet it is the supposedly ELITE conference. I guess you can claim USC Trojans now that they are joining though.

Still, I did my damage. I was mostly having fun with the post and picking at you guys but some of you got really hurt over it.

To be fair, Michigan has been fairly solid the last 5-6 years with the exception of that 4-7 aberration. Penn State, Iowa, and Wisconsin all have decent football programs as well.

What is sad is that if you take out Football, the Big12 might be one of the strongest conference on championships the last 20 years and they have also been the conference losing the most members.

There is also programs like UCONN who are phenomenal in many sports but can't catch a break because they don't play football (at least not well).

You do realize the University of Tennessee didn't win the national title in Men's Tennis. You had one of your doubles teams won an individual title, which could have been anywhere from #1 doubles to #3 doubles -- Tennessee didn't win the team title, Florida did.

Using your criteria -- Mason Paris just won an individual national title at Heavyweight for Michigan in Wrestling. As a matter of fact, the last time any school outside the B1G even won a team national title in Wrestling was in 2006. Now THAT is called dominance :)
