Going to have to research this a little to fully grasp the concept. From the article it looks like they have 10-12 protected matchups. Michigan gets Ohio State and Michigan State every year. Some teams have no protected matchups, like Penn State. Every conference pairing will have a home and home every 4 years in this set up.

All I know is -- 2024 is going to be tough sledding for Michigan. They will have Ohio State, Texas and USC, to go along with whoever else is on the schedule. Not ideal when we lose 90% of our starters at the end of this year.

It looks like nearly everyone on Iowa’s schedule was protected. Good to see them play the LA schools once a decade

This will hilariously make Penn State fans mad. They always think the B1G is out to get them. "WHAT DO YOU MEAN WE HAVE NO RIVALS!" lol.

Yeah some of my buddies (PSU fans) are pissed as hell they didn’t protect the Ohio State game. Personally I’m kinda shocked they didn’t protect the Maryland one.

I wish they woulda made Rutgers their "protected" rival, that really woulda sent that fan base into a fit.

From what I understand, LSU revels in the “we don’t have a rival” club. SEC tried to make the pig aggies and the aggie aggies their rivals. Didn’t work. Help me put here you bayou aggies.

Man USC has some long ass travel games in 2024. At MD, NW, PSU and Purdue. It's gonna be hilarious to see UCLA and USC's basketball schedule.

It’s really going to be like this every year. Even LA to Lincoln is no short trip. It’s what they signed up for

True, but that's almost 4 east coast trips, and I'm guessing some of them will be Noon kickoffs. I am curious to see what the B1G will do if they will schedule some east coast games back to back. Does UCLA and USC stay out on the east coast then? Or fly back Sunday, fly out Thursday or whenever they would fly out. Logistical nightmare.

ACC is dying but this was the total mileage for Wake's conference road games in 2022: 1,169

times are changing

I servely doubt they have back to back trips. Atleast in football. It’ll probably be an every other week thing. In basketball they’ll probably do week long trips (ex Tuesday @PSU, thurs @Maryland, Sun @Rutgers) but for football Id think it’ll be an every other. That’s what they’ve been doing with us for a few years now.

That's insane. UCLA/USC gonna end up doing like 6x that amount. Lmao.

At some point, we're gonna see OSU-michigan in B2B weeks.

That some point will be 2024. Unless PSU can sneak in in 2024. PSU does have a more favorable schedule than Michigan so it might be a PSU/OSU title game in 2024. Which would still get massive ratings.
