We are back!!!

Y’all should be embarrassed for claiming it
Why? Undefeated and the only tie was to an Army team which had two Heisman winners on it and held them to 79 yards combined. That last stat, and the fact they were the underdog is probably why they were made champions that year over Army. That and pummeling the eventual Rose Bowl champs Illinois that year.

i'm laughing pretty hard at the propping up of the 2004 Tennessee football team

they beat 9 loss Kentucky, 9 loss Vandy, 6 loss Alabama and 7 loss Ole Miss by a combined 18 points. They struggled with 7-5 Florida and beat 6-5 South Carolina by 14 points.

They beat a good Georgia team, but then turned around and lost to a 6-6 Notre Dame team.

Struggled with a bunch of mediocre, good win was cancelled out by a bad loss and got dominated by Auburn twice. Your 2004 Tennessee Volunteers!

The Notre Dame loss was kind of a fluke, I was at the game and Erik Ainge went down on the second drive. The offense was kind of lost after that and never looked good the entire game.

They were able to adjust the following game to the injury and develop a new game plan. Poor coaching though because they should have adjusted at halftime better.

That being said, 2004 Tennessee was not on level of 2004 USC by any means so agree on that point. Not sure why Wild Turkey pimped us so hard. I think Georgia and LSU were actually better than Tennessee in 2004 but Tennessee happened to be better than Georgia on that one day.

I do think 2004 USC > 2004 Auburn but using the 2003 game is not accurate. That Auburn team was lost the first 3-4 games that season. They also lost to Georgia Tech 17-3. Does that mean Georgia Tech would beat USC and Auburn and was a title contender for 2004? No.

Ties are losses for both teams in my eyes. Undefeated and untied like UGA was >>>

What would you place the odds at for Georgia to go Back to Back ???
Doesn't happen all the time and is incredibly difficult to do.

I'll go with a 'gut feel' and say 10% chance.

List of past teams to do it.

1940-1941 Minnesota
1944-1945 Army
1946-1947 Notre Dame
1955-1956 Oklahoma
1964-1965 Alabama
1970-1971 Nebraska
1974-1975 Oklahoma
1978-1979 Alabama
1994-1995 Nebraska
2003-2004 USC
2011-2012 Alabama
2021- ??? Georgia

Seems really strange no B1G team is on this list.
Maybe I missed it.
Less compaction in those other conferences. The B1G was just eating itself.
