I know a lot of people aren't fans of Barstool, but I really do think this is a great move for MLB. Barstool actually has some of the better baseball coverage out there, and has some of the personalities to make it more exciting to the average or fringe fans. But with everything Barstool related, there is a lot of negative backlash from people. So I wouldn't be surprised if it puts a halt to the talks.

But if Manfred does continue to push it, its one of the very things hes done that actually helps the game of baseball.

I don't loathe barstool as much as I used to since they sold. Portnoy has done a complete 180 in his personality since the sale and is borderline tolerable now.

It is mighty fucking hilarious though about MLB going to the bargaining table with a company chalk full of personalities who have racist/sexist incidents after virtue signalling about voting rights and wokeisms and shit.

I like Barstool. I still hope Manfred dies a slow, painful death and has a one car funeral procession. Fuck that guy, he doesn’t deserve dignity or peace

He's definitely got some poor statements in the past and can be a giant asshole, no doubt. As far as all the personalities with racist/sexists incidents, they have definitely had some issues before, mostly dumb comments that stem from dumb jokes. Its a comedy/entertainment company and occasionally they have made poor jokes or gone a step too far, not unlike almost any comedian in todays world. And I'm not saying they haven't ever had any kind of virtue signaling, but in general, they pretty much steer clear of politics. If anything, their company and everyone there gets completely attacked for being un-pc, the complete opposite of virtue signaling and being "woke". For the most part, I think its a giant broadbrush that gets painted and for the most, just isn't true.

But currently, mlb has broadcasting deals with ESPN. A company that has had, and still currently does have, several sexual harassment claims and lawsuits. Whereas, Barstool hasn't had any. There's always been people from the outside claiming misogyny, but nothing ever from the inside. A company with a good bit of female employees and CEO.

But my original point wasn't to make this about why some people do or do not like Barstool. I just think they reach an audience and can keep the attention a lot better than what is being done now. They have 3 of top 4 baseball podcasts and can easily add to that.

This is pretty much the only thing I've liked that hes done. So I'm sure he'll figure a way to fuck it up.

ESPN... Van Talk... Sam Ponder...

Yeah that entire situation was dumb. She got pissed because Portnoy told her to look slutty. (which we can all be coy here or we can acknowledge why Ponder has a job at espn in the first place) Obviously an asshole joke. And then when they reached out to her to smooth things over, she lied and told everyone they didn't. But again, hundreds of employees with many women, and never any sexual harassment claims or lawsuits from within the company. Quite the opposite.

That deal never would have lasted long either way. At the very most we would have gotten a very watered down version of PMT.

as long as i can still get broadcasts through mlb.tv i don't care how many venues they try to show the product through. don't care for the youtube and facebook, but if it gets people watching and i don't have to view the game on there, don't care.

Well if it’s like the YouTube deal, I don’t think you’d be able to watch on MLB tv. I think those games are only for those platforms, and both have sucked so far.
