If Aaron Jones gets some quality reps, it would really help take the pressure off Love and help open up the offense. Dillon, Taylor and Wilson (RBs 2-4) have been rather poor to this point in the season. Those guys are only getting about 2 yards per carry and none of them have been very good in the passing game either - each making repeated big mistakes both receiving and blocking.
Even with some key OL1's out, having Jones would help neutralize the Lions pressure through the air. Without Jones, I'm concerned we'll see a similar result to last week's first half against the Saints - which included a stagnant running game that put the Packers in a lot of 3rd & long situations (along with unforced penalties from the offensive line backups filling in for the guys out). Sunday's zero points scored in the first half had little to do with Jordan Love. (You could point to the sack he took on 3rd down that knocked the Packers out of FG range; that's fair, but that was also attributed to having backup offensive linemen whiffing on blocking coverage.) If GB struggles to move the ball tonight, it may very well have little to do with Jordan Love in this case, too.
I'm hoping we see a some good offensive balance from the Packers, but I'm skeptical we'll see it if Jones doesn't play.
