There's some outrage towards this guy because people are saying he was being cruel to his daughter for making her struggle that long (like 6 hours).

That outrage is misplaced.

The real outrage is he thinks you make baked beans by simply opening a can and putting them in a pot. No no no. Shitty baked beans, yes. But that is NOT how you do proper baked beans
 
Baked Beans are about even with potato salad for me.

And if your nine year old can’t open a can, your kid is prolly a retard.
 
pssht, my kid would have taken the can outside to the miter saw.

though we never kept the workings of a can opener secret.
 
you guys remember electric can openers? I had one in my kitchen back in the 90's...seems like such an unnecessary luxury now.

My own father is 82 years old and I bet he can't make himself baked beans (and/or use their can opener) and never could. I bet my mom wishes his dad had put him through this exercise.

Other folks don't use electric can openers anymore? I used to do the manual ones but they kept fucking breaking every month or two.

I'm not certain with the way some things have been redefined but you may not be using that word correctly :wink:

probably. I think there were various abnormalities, but the most common one was like something on the inside would warp or bend and it wouldn't turn correctly anymore. I bought cheapo ones at like Walmart/dollar store, then got a hefty appearing $20 or so one and it fucked up too so I said to hell with them and got an electric. I haven't had any issues from it.
