I had one that lasted basically my whole adolescent life then got my own shit and it fucking broke over and over and over again. I thought maybe I was squeezing the handles too hard or something and warping the little cutting disc but I tried easing up and it still went to shit. :noidea:

I think I had one in college that the little disc bent. Cheap one that I think I inherited from somewhere...

I also can't get over the fact that the kid could have eaten something around the house at any time, no? I know that the father said she "couldn't" but that's hardly going to stop someone that is literally starving.

I mean, I think if you give a can of beans and a can opener to someone who is actually starving you should probably give them some room so you don't get clipped when they start doing cartwheels :wink:

The 9 yr old was hungry and Bean Dad wouldn't get off his ass to make his daughter something to eat. She suffered until he was satisfied that she learned her lesson.

I didn't say she starved to death, but she was certainly hungry enough to consider that starving.

Eh.

If they have a can opener and a can of beans, that's probably not the only food in the house. I'm going to assume that the kid probably could have easily gone to the fridge and gotten something to eat.

I don't think that there was ever a danger to the kid's health. I also don't think it was a really effective way to show the kid how to use a can opener.

what fucking 9 year old's heart is so set on eating a can of baked beans that they will willingly go through more than 10 seconds of aggravation to open it? Either this story is bullshit or we need to take up a collection of food for this gassy ass family.
