The Athletic reported today that the Chicago Bears have signed a purchase agreement to obtain the Arlington International Racecourse property in Arlington Heights, Ill.

The 326-acre property will cost $197.2 million and is located about 25 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. The Bears have been looking to move out of Soldier Field despite resistance from Chicago mayor Lori Lightfoot. The Bears initially announced their plans to purchase the property on June 17, to which Lightfoot viewed it as a negotiating tactic.

Chicago is going to get a dome it appears.

The city should tie Lightfoot to a Soldier Field support beam right before they detonate explosives to collapse it. If construction crews happen to find a corpse fragment as they clear the plot, toss it to the crows.

Knock down the "modern" part of Soldier Field. The mix between old and new just doesn't work.

That’s harsh

for the crows

on r/NFL, the Bears fan are loving this move, while the non-Bears are whining about how history is being left behind

they should just knock down the entire city of Chicago

society has progressed to the point where we don't need it anymore

Also LOL at this decision. Chicago to Arlington Heights is worse than Washington to Landover or NYC to East Rutherford.

EDIT: Actually the more I see this on this more I get it. You're not going to get a So-FI-like stadium/complex in the city

It’s kinda funky cool.

The big problems are open area and only 61k in seating.

This is actually true in terms of being the bigger problem. Tiny stadium and also not nearly as accessible as the other stadiums around the city.
