Heupel for sure. They should have beat Pitt and would be sitting at 5-1 right now. They were stripped bad with all the xfers but he did a nice job filling gaps and they're way ahead of where I thought they would be. These next 4 games will be a huge test. If they pull off one upset it's a major win for the program who should finish bowl eligible with their last 2 cupcakes to get those 6 wins.

Beamer is the worst. The guy has never been a coordinator only position coaches and assistant head in name only. He is purely a name recognition hire. He'll be gone in 2 years. Terrible hire.

Clearly it’s Lea. :dhd:

I think he’s a fine coach but he has absolutely nothing to work with right now. I think he’ll end up being like the Pat Fitzgerald of Vanderbilt. He’s an alum and there aren’t ever any grand expectations there. If they have a decent season once every three years he will be able to stay until he wants to leave.

Who?

Are we sure Bama has a defense? Because they didn’t look like they had one a couple days ago.
I agree with you 100% ... their defense hasn't looked nearly as good since Smart and Pruitt left. For a long time people short changed how good a DC Smart was by saying, "that's Saban's defense." Not sure that was true seeing where Bama has been the last few years and where UGA is today.

That said, I think it's way better than Mizzou, USCjr, etc.

Northwestern’s coach. I’m saying Lea could be Vanderbilt’s version of him.

I am sorry, but I am not sure how you can make any argument for Lea after he lost 23-3 to East Tennessee State. Sure, Vandy has very little talent right now but they had enough talent to win that game.

Pat Fitzgerald lost to New Hampshire his first year at Northwestern

They don’t have the talent in the secondary that they have had. When that kid got ejected for targeting it exposed then for sure.

Losing Smoke Monday was a tough loss for us on Saturday. Those type guys not only do their job but make sure everyone around them does too.

Isn’t that back to back years Smoke Monday got tossed against UGA?

Honestly I don’t remember. I typically drink pretty heavily during the Georgia game and have to watch again later to remember everything. I rarely revisit loses.

he beat LSU
big fucking deal bfd GIF

To be fair, it is going to be hard to determine how well Lea will do. Derrick Mason was a great defensive scheming coach but horrible recruiter at Vanderbilt. He had some decent seasons early on using a lot of James Franklin's players but eventually the talent situation caught up to him.

It was in jest.

I voted Heupel, but so far they've lost to all the good teams they have played and won against the crappy teams they have played. The surprising thing is that their offense looks really good. The next 4 weeks will tell ... if they can win one of Ole Miss or Kentucky, they will have a winning season. Not many people saw that coming.

I'll be real interested to see how they play against Bama who actually has a defense. I expect big numbers against OM, then they play the 3 best Ds in the SEC.
Yeah, they've got one all right. That Bama defense made Calzada look like a Heisman candidate Saturday night.

Could it be that those Smart and Pruitt defenses faced offenses that weren't quite as good as what the SEC has now?

That's true, but they also tended to shutdown the bowl opponent too. Remember when Notre Dame was gonna run all over Bama?

Yeah im skeptical there too. They also gave up 29 to Florida ( 16 more than UK did ) bur did limit Ole Miss to 21

To me Bama looks real solid speed wise but theyve been physically manhandled up front twice this year already vs prerty average offenses

No, I don’t remember anyone ever saying someone was going to run all over Bama. Throw the ball, sure. Run straight at them, no
