Watched a lot of John Wayne movies with my folks when I was a kid, but it has been probably 30 years since I've seen one. I will agree with @Cowboyinexile 's comment especially in that the remake of True Grit was outstanding and better than what I remember of the original. Could be because Jeff Bridges is the best actor of his generation, could be better film technology :noidea:
Barry Pepper was in the new one.

They’re all the same. John Wayne was the most ridiculously overrated “actor” of all time.
don't recall anyone ever calling him a great actor, so don't know how he'd be overrated. the era is what it is. never caught lobo, but had to go bravo over el dorado. i know some have said their the same movie (a lot of westerns were), that said, i thought el dorado was closer to shane and shane was much better, so bravo easily.
