Johnny Depp is an actor that parades around as a musician. Then you have to include people like Jeff Bridges.


For a topic like this I think it is better to focus instead of musicians first who got into acting later.

Sorry, son, but he was a musician first, then got into acting. He never made it big as a musician, but that goes for a lot of musicians. He moved to LA 4 years before his first acting role looking for a record deal.
 
Another would be Billy Bob Thornton. Musician first, actor second.

Plays different characters & surprisingly does it well.

I lurve me some Tom Waits, I think Old Shoes is one of the greatest songs of all-time.

But I think one of his coolest moments is as the voice of Tommy, in Primus' Tommy The Cat.

He’s an under appreciated national treasure.
