I won't call him, "the best", but damn do I love his energy and style. Certainly one of the best concert performers I've ever seen.

Saw The Clash in Vancouver in the fall of 1979. It was, The Clash, The Rebels, and D.O.A.. Damn what a show that was. The Rebels were a rockabilly band out of San Francisco and although they were great (even Joe Strummer came out and had to scorn the crowd for their lack of respect towards them), they really were like a fish out of water at a quasi-punk rock concert.

The Clash really brought their "A" game that night and there are even a few internet stories about some of the shenanigans that happened that night at that concert. I had an ounce of Columbian weed for the event, just to enhance the experience.

Holy sheep shit, what a great time to be 18, fresh out of high school, and living on your own on the mean streets of Vancouver.

Also, I don’t know if you’d call Drive By Truckers rock. I’d call them southern rock, others call them alternative country, but since I call them rock, Patterson Hood is real close to the top of my list
