Best Toy you got as a kid, that wasn't a video game

I went to post a picture of a rock and a stick but couldn't find any good ones so I didn't.
Dirt clods were another favorite for me and my brothers. We especially liked to hit the field a day or two after it was plowed, there were dried chunks of clay everywhere

I had the red version of this same bike. Remember the seat well. It had metal flake in the seats and the handle bar grips were similar. I see the chain guard is off on this one....they didn't last long and would usually rust out where the one screw in back held it.

Brings back old memories from decades ago....

I got one but not a Schwinn.

Can't recall the brand (we called them Mustang bikes) but it was a 3 speed. Had a stick shift on the centre bar. It also had a slick rear tire.

And we proceeded to go to the pile behind a bike shop and cut the forks off a dead front end. Took the forks home and pounded them onto the end of the bikes front forks with a hammer and a wood block so no damage occurred.

Then we road around like Captain Fucking America with our cool extended front end.

And just like with the real thing, the bike promptly lost all utility as you had to be careful pedalling hard or you'd catapult backwards and bang your noggin on the pavement.

We did this too.
One time a kid popped a wheelie and those extended forks came off, with the tire.

Yep
Couldn't pull it all the way back and the forks hit the dirt and he flew over the handle bars.

Man....that bike.... built prolly around circa 1970? Smithsonian for sure. If Il had the toys in your op and the comic books from that day ... man, what would I do.

Steve Martin Idk GIF

I never considered a bike a toy

Never had them drop off, they came loose occasionally though and needed to be re-seated.

But tipping over backwards was a for sure thing to happen to a first time rider if you pumped the pedals too hard.

I had one of these too.

You really had to be careful launching it or you could catch it with your nose on the way up.

It would pop it's chute and float back to earth.

I was into the Estes Rockets.
Lost more than I recovered.
