Big 12 thread

It seemed Sark lost the team's attention last year. If that happens again, Mandel may be right. Otherwise I think Texas will be in the hunt the entire year. I'm predicting by the RRSO, we'll know a lot about the rusty cows.
He didn't lose the team last season.. he had a lot of players who weren't in it to begin with.. He never threw any of them or his coaches under the bus either.. atleast not publicly. He overturned this roster completely..it's a very young team, there's going to be growing pains but I think they get at least 8 wins

i think their schedule just sets up poorly for them to get real momentum
like i see it as
monroe W
Alabama L
UTSA W
TT W
WVU W but could be trap L
OK L
Iowa State W but could be trap L both coming off OK and right before OKST
Ok st L
Kansas State L
TCU W
Kansas W but we all saw what happened last year.
Baylor L

i think you spelled "at most 8 wins" wrong

If he didn't lose them...he didn't get the best out of 'em late in the season either. Losing 6 of your last 7 is petering out down the stretch. I will say most of those last 7 games were against the better teams...sans Kansas. And they did finish on a winning note.

Big 12's problem is parity IMO. The difference between the best team in the Big 12 and the 8th place team isn't very big...if any. I don't see any great team in the whole bunch. Nor do I see many real bad teams. (I think even Kansas will be better this year and can win 2-3 games) And I think the bottom 2-3 teams are good enough to screw up the season for the leaders.

So old momentum will be hard for most of them to get. Those that handle slugging through difficulties/injuries/order of schedule, etc will be standing at the end. If a team gets their "dauber" down and doesn't rebound quickly, they'll wake up a month later with the taste of a bad season.

QB play was horrendous when it mattered, down the stretch..

One QB would blame his thumb everytime he missed a throw, INT, or didn't see an open receiver.. The other had the deer in headlights look..

They were winning most of those games in the 3rd qtr before sputtering out.. normally when a team checks out..they get blown out early

if they make the move after this season..i'm buying a pair of season tix for next season.. which means I'll cancel the trip to Bama next year

I've been looking for this ever since you brought it up.

top teams last season Baylor and OK state 12-2 8th place 5-7 7 win difference
SEC top teams13-2, 14-1 8th place 7-6 7 win difference
Big 10 top team 12-2 8th place 7-6 5 win difference
Pac top teams 10-4 8th place 4-8 6 win difference
ACC top teams 11-3 8th place 6-7 5 win difference

Hot damn, neighbor, we'll swing on by and pick you up on our way to the SEC. Heaven knows what's gonna happen to Texas or Oklahoma when we get there but I'm looking forward to the new challenge.
You'll be fine. Won't dominate the conference championships like you have this century. But you won't get beat up on either.

It just feels like it's going to be next season after all.. the whole talk of a 3-6-6 schedule that the SEC were having needing to be agreed on by September/October was a big clue. If UT and ou weren't coming til '24 or '25, why come to an agreement so quickly when it could be hashed out after the season or into the spring of '23?

Word is that ou is telling recruits that they will be in the SEC in '23.. this rumor was said back in the spring and apparently it hasn't changed.

It just feels like this will be the last season for both schools in the Big12.. I think what they will do is obviously scrap the Bama OOC game and the UGA OOC for ou .. and instead will replace those game with a current member of the Big12. Probably Tech vs UT and TCU vs ou

Just ready for @Red_Alert to come in here and tell me how wrong I am lol
