Big 12 thread

they are delaying it because schools do not want to miss out on their schedule home games with them. New schools want a home games vs them as well.

Why wouldn't they?

TX/OU are media exposure games for the schools and put butts in seats.
I imagine the Hateful 8 and the 4 noobs all want to play them.

I would think there might be some teams not real thrilled about coming to Norman and Austin, and never getting a return game. Especially the new teams

I could see the B12 cutting them loose a year early for concessions on home and homes and an exit fee.

Remember when @Thiefery thought they would be playing SEC games 2022??? Good times indeed

If espn was somehow able to make it happen a year early, I would think there might be some teams not real thrilled about coming to Norman and Austin, and never getting a return game. Especially the new teams

Yeah. Preferably at home, but they would still get the media exposure in Norman or Austin, no?

I mean that's why they moved up to the Big 12.

Texas or Oklahoma @ Iowa State is not any bigger of a home conference game than anybody else. The only issue with OUT leaving is those two schools living up to the contract they signed. If they want to leave, they can honor their GOR, payup and leave, or stay. I'm good either way. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing the new teams come to Ames, and I am sure OU and Texas are looking forward to their new environs.

I'm still amazed (shouldn't be, really, these days, tho) that GORs like this would be agreed to by any of the top teams in a conference in the first place. I get why the 'welfare teams' in a conference would love them. A termination payment clause at a certain amount, certainly, but to have to give up ALL future media earnings for a couple years??? Nah, I would pass on signing that then. For MORE than 5years, anyway.

But no matter... It is what it is, I guess. I'll just watch and...

That's terrific for Iowa St.. Think Tech, Baylor, TCU.. UH, Cincy..well, hell all the rest are circling their Saturday when Matt Campbell and his non Big12 title aspirations come to town?

I really thought the Big12 had good enough teams for the Pac or BiG to poach.. silly me?

Well when ESPN offers you a separate deal with a cable channel for over 300 million.. I tend to think most schools would sign an agreement.. which really wasn't about the other 8 schools.. it was for the networks who were investing into the conference (by paying as if it was a 12 member conference)

To the people of Ames, no. But for national media eyeballs it is.

Hence them trying to negotiate an agreement that TX/OU play some Big 12 teams in the future on top of whatever exit penalty is determined.

Really thought Tech and okie light to the PAC and KU to the BiG...

...as always, another disappointment for me in the new Big12 :(
Won’t argue that last one, but you and inheritance boy goldbug are sadly disappointed you have to stay another year. I’ll take it

Thanks for more of the click-bait content sir.. lol

So in this article they want UT/ou to schedule future OOC games vs current Big12 schools. So Bedlam might stay alive for a couple years and UT can choose any of the TX schools to play (probably Tech).

I'm cool with that.

I laughed at the source saying that UT/ou didn't like the 4 new additions lol.. I know UT hates coog high.. first with the portable bleachers it installed inside their HS stadium that began falling apart. Then their whining about UT buying property in Houston to build a medical branch out there.. then wanting UT to schedule a home and home with them during the Herman buyout (which UT said no thanks, take the money)
I thought Texas was going to do this anyway. No?

I love how these jilted schools claim on one hand they don't give a shit if OU/Texas leave because they are going to do GREAT without us and then they turn around and fight over the crumbs and who gets that last juicy home game against the Sooners or Longhorns. We might as well just leave ASAP and be finished with the whole thing.
If they said that they've been drunk or they failed arithmetic in elementary school. They are going to receive about 1/2 the annual media revenue of what Texas and OU will get from the SEC. At least that is what the estimates say.

But you have to remember, there are schools signing stupid contracts with coaches and collectives signing stupid NIL contracts with players. They don't seem to mind signing dumb shit.

Brett Yormarck (the Professor Harold Hill of Music Man fame who is the new conference commissioner) has said it numerous times as have several of the AD's like Chad Weiberg at Okie Jr. Of course it's all a "whistling through the graveyard" type of attitude but it's not true.
