Big 12 thread

Dude! Easy now. You've played Baylor! Baylor! You know, the one that lost to the mighty Texas State Bobcats!
that was against ou a year ago

Quinn didn't even need to throw much.. he used his legs

Thiefery is feeling it. I am going to be nervous for the RRR. Wierd shit happens in that game and OU has heard about that ass whipping for 12 months. They are going to come out with their hair on fire. I think Texas is the better team, but they are not Georgia level right now. The my can’t play a C- game and win

Here's to a competitive match-up where great sportsmanship is displayed and nobody gets hurt. :beer2:

This is the equivalent of an employer telling an employee "We're not gonna pay you for not showing up to work for the next two years" after said employee quits. Well fucking DUH.

He didn't enforce the GOR and let them walk for free because he didn't want to go to court? Not only did TX/OU walk a year early with zero penalty, they got a massive pay raise for doing just that.

Dude should be fired for not working with the 'Hateful 8' regarding a settlement.

I guess we might need to revisit the ACC GOR.
Honestly what you laid out is exactly what I was thinking and yeah this will only embolden FSU and Clemson.

UT isn't coming out playing a C- game.. they are showing out on the road right now.. Dallas will be no different.

Biggest difference between the situations is ESPN owns the ACC network.. they didn't own the Big12 media rights for tier 1 and 2.. they had to share that with FOX.. so they were motivated into moving UT/ou towards the SEC.

Charlie Strong gave all Texas and OU fans a lesson about this game. Never put your mortgage money on this game. Weird shit happens

Chuck also didn't get stomped with a roster that wasn't at ou level at the time either. Herman was 1-1 in 2018 against them with a very close roster..
Caleb pulled some magic down in '21

But when was the last time UT was favored in this game and did not win? 2000? 2002?

What you are saying is logical but at the same time there are some red flags.

1. If this scenario were true I would think all the major media outlets would be picking it up (maybe they are and I’ve missed it) because the source of this info is questionable.

2. If ESPN paid both Oklahoma and Texas (which per the article this seems to be happening) it could be construed as tampering and open up liability.

3. I just really question if the Big 12 would let them off the hook and not claim their media rights for 2025. We are talking 100mm+.

I’m just very suspicious of this reporting and think if it were 100% true then more people would be reporting on it.

it's not tampering.. this was done with ESPN and the Big 12 (Yormark).. could the ADs come at Yormark? Sure but why? They still get the money to pay for the new members of the big12, and they still get most of UT and ou final conference payment. ESPN is paying UT/ou separately to fill in that void. ESPN was still on the hook for the $100 plus mil for LHN.. I'm sure that's what is paying UT.

But the Big12 survived and took out the PAC in the process.

lol saw this;

As the Pac-12 burned to the ground, the Big 12 had the chance to invite two of its remaining members, Stanford and California.

According to Big 12 school officials, the conference contemplated adding the two elite Bay-area schools but were met with resistance from four members, namely Iowa State, Oklahoma State, Kansas State and Texas Tech.

Having already added Arizona, Arizona State, Colorado and Utah to the league starting in 2024, one Big 12 official said, “There is no more money.”

The article cited was written by a tejas alum.

He cited a USA Today article written by Steve Berkowitz (no tejas or Oklahoma affiliation) and Kirk Bohls who has a big Austin, tejas affiliation.

So yes, this reporting could have some heavy tejas bias to it.

However, at the same time AD's from the Hateful 8 are publicly shaking their heads over the agreement and that tends to support the stupidity of the outcome.

I'm no lawyer but this situation seems ripe for a lawsuit.

Here's the thing.

Just because the Hateful 8 AD's were kept in the dark doesn't mean the Presidents were too.

It's the university Presidents that make up the Big 12 BoD.

I doubt anyone was in the dark. This is as an agreement worked out between Fox and ESPN. In the end the Big 12 wanted their money, but they were not going to fight the people that pay them. In the end the BIg 12 came out as part of the P4. That was about as good of an outcome, as they could expect. They could have been the PAC
