Big 12 thread

WV is still having a hard time adjusting to Big 12 life. No real connection with the other schools or recruiting.

one of the plugged in guys on a UT board was saying he has a friend in WV that has a connection within the program. He says that the culture that Dana left behind is still an issue FWIW.

WVU and Dana were foolish to think Texas could be had with a bunch of recruiting. I like what Brown is doing focusing more on the mid-Atlantic region and Florida. Thats how WVU used to e successful, the mid-Atlantic toughness and Florida speed.

Reminds me of something Lou Holtz said when he took the job at Minnesota. When asked about recruiting Minnesota kids he said something like "Our heart and sould will come from Minnesota but our arms and legs will come from places like Florida."

Dana focused on Texas for players? There was an article I read a few years ago that showed they did most of their recruiting in PA, DMV and FL... Never mentioned Texas.. which is another reason why WV feels odd in the Big12.

I have always liked the WV football program. I just don't like them in the Big 12. Its an odd fit and long travel for them. I saw Jeff Hostetler play in Norman when I was young.

They belong in the ACC, or the SEC east. Games vs TN and Pitt are huge for them.. hell VaTech would be big for them year in, year out.

Realignment will make another round and I hope for their fans and program, they get invited to one of those conferences.

How many of us would prefer West Virginia in the SEC and Arkansas in the Big XII?
Now that the ACC has Pitt, Syracuse and Boston College as members, isn't West Virginia is right in the middle of the ACC? That makes sense to me...but none of this realignment shit was done for any reason besides money.

He tried, and eventually stopped recruiting hard in Florida.
It didn’t work

Since we are in full offseason mode and still being a month out of Spring practices.. who do y'all think will be a surprise this season in the Big12?

As of now I think it will be Baylor. The defense was solid at times last season and they were there to upset ou, but Brewer kept that from happening. I'm a big fan of Drones coming in.. He's a smart QB and he will do better than '20 Charlie Brewer.

You forget these guys have the ONLY coach in the Big 12 with a natty. (While I'm not one of them, having a natty puts coaches in the elite category with some folks on this board.) Besides, he is a great grass eater. So, I'm going with these guys as the surprise.

What a craptastic cycle for this conference

Definitely Oklahoma. They going to win a playoff game this year!

With who we got coming back and who we got coming in anything less than that will be a disappointing season.

I was serious when I said it. I could see you guys making the Monday night game. I think that is the surprise for the B12.

Im not going to pick a random B12 team that’ll go 9-3.
