Big 12 thread

This is a joke right?

In 2017 Auburn played Georgia, Alabama and then Georgia again in the SEC Championship game. Both Georgia and Alabama were in the playoff that year.

You guys have zero idea what you are getting into. By the time we got to the Championship game we had one back left that was about 70% and our offensive line was held together with duck tape.

When we played you guys in the Sugar Bowl we were in about the same shape and lost our only real QB on the first drive. Depth is important in college football but you have to take it to a whole other level to play an SEC schedule. That was Malzahn's greatest failing in he couldn't build depth. With the transfer portal, it's just getting harder for just about everyone but Bama. Even Georgia is struggling with it at the WR position but fortunately for them the defense makes up for it.
2017? Welcome to 2021 bro. If you want to go back that far OU had not trouble beating Auburn 35-19 in Sugar and Florida 55-20 in Cotton. OU will always get the best players on offense and once OU gets the the SEC they will be able to recruit defense. I think the Sooners will be just fine.

We're gonna need a lot more guys like this:

The next question will be (assuming we get them) is Grinch the guy we need for DC? But first we need the players.

Our main issue right now is depth. Not numbers-wise, but ability-wise. Seen the new guys blow gap after gap and lose contain repeatedly. We lost some very good talent to the NFL and injury.

Secondly it would have to be scheme. Grinch HAS to get up on these receivers and stop giving them so much cushion. He HAS to bring more unique pressures more often. You CANNOT sit on your hands defensively in this conference. USE your SPEED instead of hanging back to not get BEAT. This NON-AGGRESSION WILL NOT STAND.

Two points:
1) Our D Line and LB's have disappeared. Their play is a shadow of what it was earlier in the year and now there isn't any pressure on the opposing QB's. They are making opposing QB look like All-Americans.

2) The soft tits DB's can moan about being young but why recruit them if they can't cover receivers......at least by 8 games into the season? Seriously. Getting burned consistently on third and longs to keep drives alive is laughable. Hell, it's just pitch and catch right now against OU on third and long.

Solutions: You're absolutely right; they need to get more aggressive in the defensive secondary. And why the !@#$ don't they try a lot more blitzes to put some pressure on the QB's? They have quit blitzing much at all over the past few games. These guys don't play with any urgency. I am repeating myself but Lincoln Riley has a soft nougat center and no one's afraid they're going to get reamed out in front of everyone during a game. And Grinch has that perplexed look on his face like "it looked different on the chalk board". Let's just win the conference and call it a season. But first we have to stop the horrible defensive effort we're seeing.

Took this pic out blockwalking for a friend’s campaign in Houston today.

i saw a flag that was half UT, half aggy a week ago as I was driving through a neighborhood in League City lol
Played in a golf tournament last weekend at Lake Fork with my Aggie classmate from high school. He said he wanted Leach to go back to Tech because he "wanted him out of the fuckin' SEC". I asked why and his reply was "Well check out his career record against A&M." Who'd have thunk it.

Is that the one north of Tyler/Longview? If it is, that's a long way for a golf tournament.

Yep, that's it. 5 1/2 to 6 hour drive each way....depending how long it takes to get through DFW. (I've never been accused of being real bright.) Couple of my oldest friends live at The Links at Land's End. One Longhorn and one Aggie so things are always entertaining to say the least.

And in West Texas, we drive 90 miles for lunch so we are used to a lot windshield time.

Good thing is my daughters and the grandkids live in Keller which is a little more than 1/2 way.

OU vs Baylor at 11am

I like early morning kickoffs for road games. Hope we look sharp and are ready to play after the week off.

I thought somebody said we get a shit ton of players back, finally.

Don't know if that has any truth in it or not.

OU needs to napalm teams and piss on the ashes.
Oh I think that there may be some rabid one-eyed junkyard dogs with their hair on fire in these last 3 games.

We may not win it all, but by cracky we're gonna leave a nasty stain.

BOOMER!

I do wanna give a shot out though.

Today Texas Legand Colt McCoy started in relief for injured superstar and OU Heisman winning QB Kyler Murray and went 22/26 for 249 yds, a TD and ran 7 times for 23 yds having a 119.4 QBR leading the cards to a 31-17 win over San Fran.
