Big 12 thread

it was week 7 with ut vs ou and it beat every game that weekend.
UT vs LSU also beat everyone that weekend

ou vs bu in wk 12 beat au vs uga in ratings (also every other game that weekend)

neb highest rated game was vs tosu with 6.14 in wk 5.. the next highest? vs CO wk 2 with 3.45 mil

With the noon slots tosu killed everyone with games vs psu and um in those weeks.

and go figure undefeated LSU team pulled in numbers vs undefeated bama? Say it ain't so!!!
If Texas has played BYU or Maryland instead of LSU your conference would have had one game in the top 10 last year.

One

You’ve got to pull in better draws because don’t care.

but they had the best ratings in atleast 3 weeks of the season.. but yeah they are doomed.

luckily UT has scheduled well in the future to hopefully get 2 top 10 ratings ?

Keep your head in the sand dude but your conference is drawing grossly behind the SEC and B1G and that gap is only going to get bigger with what I'm seeing on the field.

Ain't no one turning in to watch OU play Baylor this year at least in big numbers anyway.
Most of your numbers are either the RRR or OOC games.

It's not a good trend.

It will be fine, these things happen to be in cycles.. I'm pretty confident that the ratings will pick up in the next few seasons. Especially once my Horns win a title ;)

If you are counting on a year where Baylor, TCU and Oklahoma are neck and neck....that is few and far between. I don't see the cycle and multiple bigger names like you see in the B1G and SEC.

The SEC has had three different teams play in the championship game and two different ones have won it. I don't see that happening to the B12 because you guys can't get out of the first round with Heisman winning QBs.

c'mon tech.. you need every body available to make sure Sat game happens

Hey man.. Texas didn't need Heisman winners to make the championship games in 05 and 09.. I'm not comparing Big12 to the SEC.. I was more comparing it to the BIG and how it doesn't fit Texas.. I don't think ou fits either but maybe they do.
Is the PAC or ACC going to eclipse the Big 12? As far as the money goes.. Big 12 will also get a bump.. and as long as they are within the 10 or so mil, it will survive. The conference is built for getting a school in the CFP if they have one loss or less.

And lastly..Texas>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>auburn

Out of the top 10 highest-rated college football regular-season games last year the B12 had two games listed:

Number 8 - Texas vs OU 7.25 million (Army vs Navy did better at 7)
Number 6 - Texas vs LSU 8.63 million

Auburn vs LSU pulled 7.18 million about what the RRR did.
Auburn vs Alabama pulled 12.42 million which is over 5 million more views than the RRR.
Alabama vs LSU pulled 16.42 million which is almost twice what Texas pulled playing LSU.

If Texas hadn't played LSU and gotten the cross-conference bump you would have had one game in the top 10. The Big 12 has a rating problem and needs games like:

Oklahoma vs Nebraska
Texas vs aTm
I covered this above. Big 12 has a population problem.

I covered this above. Big 12 has a population problem.
When I move back to Texas.. my household of 4 will increase the numbers.. as is most of the Californians relocating to Gods Country. Just like that the population problem will disappear.

BYU and Cincinnati are the best options for the Big12 to pick up and both would join the Big12.

that shit needs to stop. If there is another round, they need to do it geographically. Get to 4 conferences and make it work geographically. The fans deserve it. Conferences have made the game worse by focusing on television sets. I get why, but I don’t have to like it

Texas has 29 million people.
Alabama has 4.9.

You mother fuckers just aren't watching.

Well, I do agree with this assessment about the leagues should fit Geography. However, I will point out that BYU isn't too far removed from the region. Cincinnati is kind of out of whack but they provide a bridge to West Virginia as I stated.

To me the perfect Big12 additions are to get back Colorado, Nebraska, and Missouri. I think TCU was ok to replace Texas A&M and A&M fits better in the SEC.

Colorado State could also be an option to replace the Colorado market. Colorado State is generally pretty competitive with Colorado anyways.

If we are talking "FOOTBALL" only, I agree with you 100% If we are talking "OVERALL", I'd say 7. Kansas is attractive to some conferences because of hoops and academia. Texas Tech has had more success lately in non football sports than those three that are coveted. Hell, they even had a golfer in the US Open yhis past weekend and they ain't known for that. So conference football affiliation needs to be separated, not the other things IMO.

Again, if we are talking FOOTBALL only....not other sports or academia....there are many current P5 schools in the BIG, SEC and ACC that ain't any better in football than the 7 we are talking about in the Big 12.

Very fair point DC. I honestly think the B1G would consider kansas. I truthfully forgot about them. The other 7 could be screwed though.

Also the NFL is just as bad. Why does the AFC South have the Indianapolis Colts instead of the Miami Dolphins for example?

NFL could do more geography. I would love seeing the Titans play the Falcons, Saints, Panthers, and Bucs more often. We could combine all of them with the Titans, Jaguars, Texas, and Dolphins to form the SEC of the NFL.

Doesn't look like it is in the other three P5s either. Has any other conference besides the SEC had more than one team playing in a CFP championship game? From what I see, NO.

PAC - 1 Oregon
ACC - 1 Clem
B1G - 1 Ohio State
Big 12 - None

Cold hard reality is Clem has been carrying the entire weight of the ACC, Ohio State has been carrying the entire weight of the B1G, Oklahoma has been carrying the entire weight of the Big 12. The rest of those conference members and the PAC 12 hasn't been carrying shit! Yeah, yeah, FSU, Oregon and MSU made the playoffs once but two of those three really farted, fumbled and fell when they got there. The third one would have fizzled in the semifinal too....except they played a semifinal against a bigger fizzler so one of 'em had to advance!

I still think there should be football only conferences. Travel is more of a problem for the other sports IMO. I mean, WVU and Texas Tech only have to travel once every other year to Morgantown or Lubbock. Both basketball teams have to go every year.

It’s not Texas that has the issue. It’s the other states that are small and there isn’t a lot of them
