B1G academics are below us.Aug 31st?
UTEP going to the B1G?
Seems to be Tenn would be a great opportunity for a night game. Is this kickoff time written in stone?
Because the 3:30 slot is the SEC game of the week and Fox’s only shot at ratings is to play at noon when the SEC plays its scrub games. Can you take some of ours? Jesus. We had Hawaii for some god forsaken reason and now MSU this week, and then fucking Rutgers is having us as a 7:30p kick next week? I'm tired of the night games. We've had ZERO 3:30p games this year, all noon games otherwise. And those suck for tailgates. Fox is killing the 3:30 slot in favor of "big noon kickoff" .
UTEP needed a Home Coming opponent.I see UTEP plays Nebraska in 2024. They've never played each other.

Depends on what CBS does. If they try to play the B1G game of the week at 3:30 then I guarantee you the SEC is going to go head to head in that slot.SEC prime time games on CBS are always at 2:30 CT/3:30 ET. Now when CBS contract ends, that could change.
ESPN loves to put the #2 game (usually whoever Alabama is playing if they are not on CBS) at the 7:00 ET/6:00 CT time slot.

Basically that first year practically everyone that plays UT and OU are going to pull big ratings and the SEC is going to want to send CBS a message.
CBS has had the best deal in all of sports broadcasting and pissing off Sankey was the dumbest thing imaginable. They should have coughed up more for aTm and Mizzou in exchange for additional years (which they would have gotten). That decision is now costing them millions much earlier and bring their overall ratings down.I could definitely see that. 2:30/3:30 slot seems to be the big-time matchup slot.

On the bright side at least you don’t have to play 10:00pm kickoffs to get ratings like the PAC.

True Story: When I lived in Cincinnati, I decided to go to the 2015 USC @ ND game. Bucket list Rivalry Game, as I always enjoyed watching the afternoon game in October from South Bend. Unfortunately, they moved this one to a Night Game. Since both bands did a pre-game show, I left at the half with the score tied! Part of it was the cold, as I did have to defrost my car before I could leave, but the other part was having to drive to Kokomo after the game to get to my hotel. No thanks at being stuck in post game late night traffic in BFI. I listened to the 2nd half on the ND Network, and the Irish won 41-31. Basically, night games in the Midwest suck.So far we've been lucky. This Saturday looks like it's going to be a high of 63~ish and sunny; which is basically winning the jackpot in Michigan in late October. If we got unlucky and hit a 45 degree evening with rain, it would suck royally. It's OK in September, because it's usually really hot mid day so it's nice to have the cooler evening. But more than 1 night game a year is unnecessary.
I left this game at this exact moment because I went to the game in just a t-shirt and the sun was shining. If I remember, it was a really odd start time (like 4pm). The sun dropped down below the horizon and it got freezing. MSU went up 18 so I bolted....sigh.True Story: When I lived in Cincinnati, I decided to go to the 2015 USC @ ND game. I left the 2008 Northwestern #@ Michigan Game at the half! Was not dressed properly for the cold and wet day! Cannot balme that one on the kickoff time though. It was just a crappy weather day. At least I had brunch at Zola's before I got all wet and uncomoftable.
Back in the day, that wind whipped through there with NO MERCY! It's a lot better now that they made the addition to close in the South End Zone.I went to a Nebraska/iowa state game back in the mid 90's. I sat in the south endzone section, near the top. The temps were in the 20's and the wind was screaming out of the north. The only two ticket holders who didn't attend the game were supposed to be seated in front of me.
I got the full wind for the entire game. I wanted to leave early, but my legs were so cold that they were numb, so I couldn't stand up.
Worst game experience ever.
