Movie Black Superman

Still an original idea

Are you backing down from your claims?

I love the whole non original ideas complaint... I mean... sequels have always existed, Rocky, Back to the Future, Godfather, Star Wars, Star Trek... Just to name a few...

and that was when there was before there was 5 movies coming out per week... Now there is over 10 movies that come out a week... Of course some will feel unoriginal... But that is just because there is so many...

It's the world as a whole. Standing for the National Anthem...Racist. Logo for the NBA...Change it to Kobe because the Black Kings built the league...6 months of violence by BLM and Antifa gets zero coverage and the events of the capital are covered 24/7....Cops get shot sitting in their car and it's crickets while an armed felon who sexually assaults his wife and steals her car gets shot disobeying the police and they are crucified for it...Biden nominating someone who believes its okie dokie to mutilate a child's genitals simply because it is a tranny...every reality show has as many gay couples as straight...Its not the fact that they are making a movie about a black Superman. It's that they are making it to say, look at how forward thinking we are...the majority of the racists in this country are on the left now, but you would never know it by the media coverage

You poor, poor, phony outraged soul.

Just don't get why its necessary. But Hollywood is out of ideas so whatever. 2 years after black Superman we will get homosexual Superman. Black Wonder Woman. Batman and Robin a mixed Tranny couple. It's whatever

And if this happens, why will it make you cry?

Not a huge fan of taking a beloved character and then simply putting a different race or gender on that character.

It’s not just this. It’s female Thor, the chick ghostbusters, black human torch.

it’s lazy and kinda phony. Create new and interesting characters rather than “appropriating” another one. What’s wrong with Black Panther, Luke Cage, Blade, Falcon, Victor Stone?

thing is even this post is wrong... As some of the superheroes were original white, and now are black...

Also, comic books have something called else worlds... where if we changed a couple details from a hero what would happen...

I don't think this Superman project is anything other than an else world... where really the only difference from the origin is that Kal-el is found by a black family and not the Kents...

As for krypton having black citizens, who cares, they are aliens anyway... it is amazing that they even look like humans... But you know, they were written that way...

What's cool about the whole superhero thing is that different people would do different things if given that sort of power and that is fun to explore. So is the power or mantle itself the important part or is it the character of the person with the power? Tony Stark is a great character and he makes for a very certain kind of Iron Man...but what if someone else is given the Iron Man suit? How do they handle that mantle?

I think that is the more interesting premise when it comes to all that.

And there are only so many super powers before they become trademark infringement.

I mean, I understand the whole argument against taking a character we love and changing them... I just don't see that being the issue here... I think there is too much outcry for something they really don't understand....

Kryptonians are not Caucasian... the only reason it works for Clark kent to be White is because he was found by a small town, farm family... If you had him being any other race, it would have just looked weird... especially at the time...

Hollywood isn't out of ideas.
Why another superman? Why not create some other super hero? Make it interesting. I was looking forward to the Equalizer tv show, until Queen Latifah was cast as the Equalizer. GTFO. Equalizer is an old show. That evolved into movies and now a fat black woman stars in the show.

I am sorry that you only want to recognize remakes and sequels.

but there is plenty more out there.

and reimagining a character in another way can be a very interesting take on a story.

take the Superman story where he is a kid who kills his family...it's a new way of telling an old story.

That was a movie, already.

I'm aware. That's why I referenced it.

There is also a whole idea of taking a minor character from a story and making it into its own story, like Wicked, Joker, Circe, etc.

So while it is a play on the original, it is an original idea of its own.

I think the actual issue with this story based on what I've read is that Black Superman is also somehow the president of the United States. So either the entire country is legally blind and doesn't recognize the leader of the free world flying around beating up bad guys or everybody already knows that Superman is the president and at that point it almost becomes a parody of Superman.

Superman was already overpowered and boring, especially when you put him in the Justice League where he's always portrayed as more powerful than everybody else in the league combined. But that's not enough I guess. He also now has to have all the keys to the nuclear missile launch codes.

While they're at it, they should just give him 3 PhDs and a 12 inch cock for good measure. Well, I guess they kinda gave him the latter already by making him black.

Although maybe black Kryptonians actually have both sets of genitalia or something. Nah, that's probably a Superman from yet another alternate dimension in the DC universe.

There are a couple books out there where superheroes are in positions of power, but it isn't much of a democracy kind of thing.

I mean, if you have that power, it could definitely corrupt you to be a dictator...like Homelander in The Boys...

But it all comes down to the character of the person and how they choose to use that power. Kind of why I always enjoyed Spider Man because he is constantly struggling with life on top of being a superhero.

you are probably right but for the wrong reason... this Calvin Ellis Superman was based on Obama.. so any Obama haters are generally going to hate this guy... before even knowing the story...

Hard to like a character where you don't like who inspired the character...
