I usually see any hints of “Girl Power” or “You go Girl” in movies, and to be honest, this movie didnt really have it, imho. I mean, if you squint just right and play the movie at the right speed, maybe you can see some, but I didn’t see too much blatant “girl good; boy bad” in this one.
The protagonist was a female. The antagonist was a male. If this qualifies, does that mean anytime the reverse exists it is a chauvinistic movie?
The “dad” was a bit of a hot mess, but he was probably the best new character in the movie. Having flaws <> bad character.
I am not defending the MCU on “Girl Power” moments. The girl-pose in Endgame was so cringe-worthy, it alone probably dropped my overall rating of that movie by about a full point on a 10-point scale. The entire Captain Marvel movie was just painful.
