Bo Nix Has Entered The Transfer Portal

Here is a quote from Nix:

"I have made so many decisions for Auburn, and now it's time to do what's best for me," Nix said in the video. "It's time that I move on to the next chapter in my life. To reach further goals, I've decided it's best to be a grad transfer and find a new start somewhere else."

I would like him to explain how he has made "many decisions for Auburn" and it wasn't what was best for him. Nix is so full of himself he actually believes that crap. He got the starting job as a freshman and if you ask me Auburn made a ton of decisions that were best for Nix not the other way around.

Kid is never going to get an NFL start and probably doesn't get out of training camp and literally threw away all the goodwill he had with the fan base. He could have graduated and made a good living off his name and has put all of that at risk. His parents are idiots for not advising him better.

Which toilet paper brand to use on the trees?

He isn't wrong although he is focused on what quip Nix made about Alabama which really isn't the problem. The problem is Nix has been told all his life that he is the golden child and was automatically given the start when he stepped on the field. It's caused him to have an over-inflated ego and it has become an issue in the locker room. If you look at the sidelines it's pretty obvious that he doesn't have a ton of respect by his fellow players and everything is always someone else's fault. I'm not sure I've ever heard the kid take responsibility for playing badly.

Gus did him no favors by announcing before he ever suited up that Auburn would win a national championship under Nix. It was such a stupid thing to do and it ruined Nix's headspace.
Dude would go out there and fuck up and then come to the sideline and yell at his teammates. Seth Williams hated him. Nix is a spoiled little pussy brat

Totally agree and Williams could’ve used another year and we probably win 3 more games with him on the roster this year.

People are going to get down on Harsin but the fact is he is cleaning up 7 years of Gus’s crap. The only thing I’m truly disappointed in this year are the Miss State Game and South Carolina game.

Mason has to get better at calling the defense. I think Harsin letting Bobo go will solve some of the offensive issues. Our biggest issue is we have to rebuild the o-line, secondary and linebackers. I don’t have super high expectations for this signing class as most of the work was done when they were juniors so anything close to top 15 would be the best we can do. We have to have to get some wins in the transfer portal.

Of course LSU made Nix look like a Heisman candidate.

so many threads, don't want to start any new ones so I'll just drop that Slovis (SC) is now in the portal too

Maybe he’ll come to UGA, ball out for a few games and then never be used again too

@Wild Turkey Right on queue my Auburn fan sister called me at 7:24 am Califonia time about "Auburn imploding!" lol. I tried to talk her off the ledge that I thought Harsin was a good, solid coach, Nix was a bad fit, etc. Yikes! I was in the middle of a work thing and listened as well as I could.

fyi: I asked her about the cowbell thing last time I spoke with her, and she stated she bought hers at the 1973 Florida @ Auburn game and there were others ringing 'em that day too. Makes me wonder if it was a one-off game thing (1st thought)? Who knows, as I accept your version from your 3 generations of Auburn Alums.

Additionally, I did further research on the Iowa State end, and my brother-in-law confirmed that Cyclone fans used to ring cowbells along with other artifical noise makers back in the old Clyde Williams Stadium. Makes me wonder if it was just a short fad back for some schools in the late 60s-early 70s (2nd thought)?

As for me, since I started going to games in 1971, Miss. State is the ONLY school with whom I have personally experienced the pleasure of cowbells - the 2007 Liberty Bowl win over UCF being the last experience with them. I just put earplugs in to block out that noise!

A rival's take on your hire, obviously biased:

I didn't like the Harsin hire when it happened (which actually means I liked it). Hiring someone with no SE ties was just dumb. You can't afford to miss 2 or 3 recruiting cycles in the SEC, and it takes time to get those relationships developed. You currently have the 27th class in the nation, 10th in the SEC. On the composite, you are over 100 points behind UA, TAMU and UGA, teams you play each year. All three of those teams are going to land 2 or 3 more top 50 players and you aren't in on any players like that. I just can't see what Harsin can do in the next 2 or 3 years to turn that around. And, you have to play in the SECW with an annual game against UGA. Think you guys should have gone with a coordinator from another SEC school, or HC from a G5 school in the south. A G5 west coast guy didn't make sense.

I did say the Bobo hire was not good ... he's a decent OC, not a great OC, and I think the offenses have passed him by. Also, he has some health issues that would keep him from traveling like he needs to. He'll be an O analyst for UGA next year with his son being a UGA OL player.

Not sure what to say about Nix ... I loved when we played against him. Don't know your QB room well enough to know if this is addition by subtraction.

Tank has arrived in the portal.

And says he meant to go out of bounds
FWIW, right now he still isn't in the portal, and the news from the pay sites is that his meetings with Harsin when well today and he is leaning toward staying. Of course that probably means he announces tomorrow.

And ... Bobo just flipped to UGA. Candidly, he's not at the level of OL we typically take, but we have the luxury of being stacked at OL and can give him a chance to develop. We've done that often.
