I was really worried because our pass defense is as existent as OD’s grip with reality.

Need to set an early Dec opt-out deadline and let Bowl committees pick teams after. Nobody cares about a Walkerless MSU team nor a Pickettless Pitt team. Saw general admission going for $4

Love the idea but it’d be near impossible to enforce. Players would just claim they were sick or think of something else and really what can anyone do?

The best bet is rooting for a mediocre program with little to no draft worthy players. I have mastered that one!

I have no problem with TOP NFL prospects opting out of MINOR Bowls... after all, the insurance polices don't cover nearly as much money as the potential multi-millions of future income lost from a major injury....

but... IMO, a player should not opt out of any of the four non-playoff New Years Six Bowls.

I dont undetstand why these guys opt out of a bowl game but play in ganes all season after its clear theyre not winning a natty

If youre Walker or Pickett why opt out of a NY6 bowl but play vs Penn St or Wake??

They are playing for a chance to win a national championship. If you win any other bowl game, all you get is a nice job, your season is over.

Its reps and tape as well. Some guise just won't quit. But I wouldn't think ill of any player sitting out. If we have to accept teh gheyz then a kid more worried about that bag should get a pass too.

If you need reps and tape at the end of, at minimum, your 3rd year in CFB -- you don't have to worry about the NFL, so those players will be playing in the bowl game anyway. It is the guys who know they are getting picked in the first two days who will sit out the bowl games.

If you need reps and tape at the end of, at minimum, your 3rd year in CFB -- you don't have to worry about the NFL, so those players will be playing in the bowl game anyway. It is the guys who know they are getting picked in the first two days who will sit out the bowl games.

Sadly theres also a large group of guys who opt out that end up being drafted in the late rounds or who go completely undrafted

I don't blame those guys for sitting out too. As crazy as it sounds, many guys will improve their draft stock more at the spandex olympics (the NFL combine), than they will with game tape.

So they skip the bowl preparation and game, giving them an extra month of training on specific drills they will be tested on for the combine.

CFB is going to have to come up with some sort of changes for the bowl games, because outside of the CFP -- there really isn't any bowl games i can't wait to see, because i know those games won't be with the players i've watched this year. Imagine the Peach Bowl getting MSU and Pitt, and now MSU will be without their All-American RB and Pitt will be without their All-American QB. The game will be almost unwatchable.
