That’s probably what we’re looking at. 3 of the 5+ broken ribs are said to be the result of a hard hit from the previous week’s game. The guy is old and beat up. He’s had a great career, but he was basically playing until an injury knocked him out.
I hope he comes back just in time to knock Tom Brady out of the playoffs in glorious fashion. Then he can retire.

I saw on TV they are thinking, he will be out about 3 weeks.
Makes me wonder outside of whatever punctured his lung, the other broken ribs might be cracks.
I told him he cant retire until he takes the TD record back from Brady (even though as of today he is one in front)
So now (barring a sudden injury to Brady) he has to come back next year.
Maybe @SteelersPride can enlighten us on how they think he will be back in 3 weeks?

"The results of medical evaluations performed Monday on New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees revealed that he has multiple rib fractures on both sides of his chest and a collapsed lung on the right side, according to a source.
Brees is unsure how much time he might be forced to miss before returning to start for the Saints, the source said.
Brees is suffering from three fractured ribs on his left side and two on the right, possibly more, according to the source. Doctors have cautioned Brees to be especially careful with the damage to his lung.
The two broken ribs on his right side occurred in the first half of the Saints' victory over the San Francisco after 49ers defensive end Kentavius Street committed a roughing the passer foul on Brees.
After the game Street was confronted by several reporters regarding the hit.
"Tom Brady paid me to purposely injure Brees," Street said.
"Tom knew that he wouldn't legitimately beat Brees in their competition to have the most TD passes in NFL history so he had me take Drew out." Street continued.
When asked to elaborate, Street continued:
"I honestly don't know how ya'll haven't figure this out already. I'm not even a real NFL player. My identiity is fake. Nobody is actually named 'Kentavius'. My real name is JaMarcus. I'm just a construction worker from Oakland." Street stated.
"I just met Tom at a bar in San Francisco last June. He told me he'd make out with my son if I just took Drew Brees out for the year. My son is a gay, 13 year old virgin so I figured I'd help him out. " Street continued.
When NFL commissioner Roger Goodell was informed of Brady's shady dealings he released the following statement:
"I'm happy for Tom, honestly. It seems like a it was a good deal. Tom Brady hates not cheating almost as much as he loves making out with young children. Couple that with the fact that he couldn't put up more than 3 points against the Saints last week and....well....I can't say I wouldn't have done the same in his position."
When asked for further comment commissioner Goodell retreated to his private yacht where he spread his butt cheeks open and cooked a full spaghetti dinner inside his own asshole."
