Brian Kelly

Finebaum was shitting all over BK decision not to go for 2.
I actually think he is right. All momentum and that FSU defense was disoriented and tired. LSU was getting whatever they wanted. No problem with an extra point but there is no excuse that should be blocked but I wonder if BK considered going for two….

Former players that know they don’t have to tow the company line have had things to say about him. He was rarely at morning practices (until the last couple of years). He was rarely directly involved in recruiting. Even blue chippers that ended up elsewhere said they never spoke to him directly.

I keep hearing from LSU fans that all he has to do is throw up a fence around the state and he’ll win. He still has to get out on the road and build those relationships. And judging by the regression of QB’s at ND *4 Everett Golson ended up transferring and not starting. 4* Brandon Wimbush ends up transferring and not starting. 4* Phil Jurkovec came out recently and trashed Kelly personally, it’s going to be hard to get an elite QB
it's always been hard to get an elite QB at LSU for some reason

The problem with such calls is there are usually good arguments each way. Yes you have the momentum. But at the same time it took everything they had to get to that position. You don’t want to rob the team of that opportunity by taking the lower percentage play.

But I’ve also said BK plays not to lose. He rarely plays to win. It’s not in his DNA to be that gutsy.

I actually think, one offensive play from 3 yards out when the other team does not get an answer is less risky than OT - which is a total crap shoot. Not just this game, but any game, I think going for two in that situation instead of kicking for OT is ALWAYS a better play. FYI: I like your point about BK playing not to lose instead of playing to win in very telling.
