Same reporter is saying he’s reached out to Rees too.
Yeah ... well talk about makin sure the cupboards are left bare in SB if any of this plays out.

Can you fng imagine Tommy Rees as an interim head coach? lolz

They gotta realize that 90% of the recruits coming are because of Freeman and they better do everything they can to keep him here. (He would have probably taken a HC offer in a year or two anyway) but they need to keep these next two classes intact. If that means promoting him now so be it. If that means bringing his good friend from Cincinnati so be it.

It would be hard for Freeman to say no to the right price from LSU.

Lincoln said Sunday was the VERY FIRST TIME he had spoken to another school.

...looks like his agent went all rogue and shit? Speaking to other schools without his knowledge? :dhd:

Was kinda my point.

What makes this all the more befuddling is Kelly's constant touting in the local news of the next two incoming classes as the best he's ever had - by far - and, mebbe, in the school's history of recruiting.

Other than, prolly, the money, he might have just gotten sick of much of the unwarranted ridicule he's received around here by alot of 'spoiled ND fans'.

Sorry but he’s had a longer leash than many before him some of which have accomplished more than him.

Starting out with 8-5 9-4 seasons being the norm and not the exception do you think that will be tolerated in Baton Rouge?

A late season collapse in 2015 followed by a 4-8 season? I’d love to get the LSU fans’ reaction to that.

The turnaround after 2016 had as much to do with the AD telling him to dump his cronies or else.

We reached the ceiling with BK because it’s HIS ceiling, not ND’s.

losing a great DC in Freeman would be bad, but I don't think he's ready to be the HC of a school like Notre Dame

Kelly's first seven years were funky as shit. i always give coaches a pass for their first two seasons, unless they're absolutely horrid. Year 3 on, Kelly went 12-1, 9-4, 8-5 10-3, 4-8

Pretty obvious that something started to click after that 4-8 season. Hiring Elko and Lea from Wake seemed to be a big turning point for Kelly's program.

I guess I just look at it from a much different perspective than you may be.

Like I stated earlier in thread, it took Kelly do so some soul-searching & adjusting his coaching style/management decisions to smooth out many of the rough edges he experienced up to 2015 and he's made that, pretty much, publicly known around here. I'm not gonna fault him for the early 'non-successes' he experienced when he first got here - many coaches go thru that with a new job, especially on a much bigger stage.

He's made ND relevant & prominent in the CFB world, again, and that's a lot more than can be said with the junk we had with the three coaches prior to his hiring.

I woulda loved to see what he coulda/woulda done with these next two classes he's been talking so much about, but ... oh well.

My concern, also.

It's a whole different animal.

I’ve said it many times he would leave it better then he found it (and he did) but I take exception to any opinion that he left because of “ungrateful fans”. He knew or should have known what the expectations here are.

And I think those changes were forced upon him. Brian Van Gorder should have been shit canned in 2015. Keeping him through 2016 was 100% a Kelly decision and frankly he wasted Jaylon Smith’s career at ND

yeah but he hit a homerun after Van Gorder was told to go.. He probably learned a lot from that season too. He'll have a better shot at winning a CFP game/title at LSU than any of his previous stops imo. Can't wait to see how it plays out

Something to make us all feel better, the thread about Kelly to LSU on the other site has 27 replies lol
How many replies to their “Lincoln Riley is a dumbass” thread?
