I'm not making excuses. I was just theorizing about the motive behind canning a guy over a lame mistake. If none of us can screw up even that much in today's world then we're all gonna face a social firing squad at some point. If he'd mumbled the word during practice watching someone I would be all in favor of making him walk the plank. You simply can't be using some language in any situation if you work in some environments. This just seems like a bridge too far and there is something else that made it more than what it appears to be.

It’s not just a lame mistake though. Slipping an Eff bomb during a press conference, maybe that’s a lame mistake. His players running the wrong routes because he wasn’t paying attention would be a whoopsy he might need to answer for but get a pass on. Dropping the N word loud enough for the room to hear and claiming you read it on an iPad, that’s why… that’s just straight up weird and not a common mistake anyone should expect to get a pass for.
