Yeah. But never attribute to malice which can be explained by stupidity. I’m gonna need more evidence before I’ll brand him a racist. Stupid, in this day and age but not necessarily racist.

I didn’t call him racist, that’d just no doubt the other side to what fordman was saying about selling recruiting.
 
Here is the thing at best we have a stupid coach who did a very stupid thing.

To completely judge this we need the context of what was written. That doesn't really matter in the coach's case but it could be a really big deal in the case of the player(s) who originated the word. If there is a black and white divide in the locker room then that never works out for you.

And who knows if the iPad thing is even true. There was some kind of report posted that said he might have said it multiple times. With nothing else to go on it starts and ends at the dude is a moron, no one should feel bad for him, and that is all. If the program needs to get more sorted out over the thing, it’s on them to figure out.
 
The word local here is that the kid was writing some song lyrics. Tons of past players have come out in support of Gundy. Venables is making it sound like he did the right thing by resigning because what he did was wrong. No one around here is buying that version.

If the coach is gone then evidence points to this getting sorted. Nothing gets anyone's attention more than someone getting canned.
 
Going back to OP, the "N" word is something that you just don't say, even in a joking manner. Someone will always hear/read it out of context.
