Caleb Williams

Rich coming from an Auburn fan ... you've been paying for players for decades. It's just out in the open now. Before you start typing, I am sure we have been too.

FWIW ... I saw an article the other day that said since 2010, 70% of blue chip QBs ended up playing at schools other than their first choice. QBs are going to shuffle every year from now on, especially when you get coaching changes.

FWIW2 ... if we get him, fine. But someone else will get Brock Vandagriff and he is a hell of a QB. Also, might put Gunner Stockton at risk. If we really are going after him, and I've heard from good sources that there is mutual interest, we are playing with fire.
1. At no point in my post was Auburn mentioned.

2. At no point in my post was Georgia mentioned.

3. You’re smart enough to know this isn’t really about Williams and the state of NIL and transfers in general.

Un-bunch your panties.

These are the points scored against Oklahoma in national championship or playoff games. Guess which game OU did NOT get its ass beat. It makes zero difference if Caleb Williams stays or goes when it comes to winning another NC if the defense is not fixed. Period. End of story. OU is miles away from being ready to win another NC or a SEC championship. Brent Venables knows it and that's going to be his first priority. Yeah we need to score some points too but OU's salvation has always been its defense all the way back to Bud, Barry and Bob. Muleshoe wasn't ever going to get OU back to the top of the mountain and he skated. So, it's all on Brent Venables now. Defense wins national championships.
I’d argue Auburn won the natty in 2010 with just a decent defense and came within a second of another in 2013.

OU’s issue right now is the trenches and that’s both sides of the ball. What you have works in the Big 12 but won’t consistently in the SEC. if you want to know why Kentucky has improved the last 3 years then look no further than the o-line.

Once you join the SEC the other issue you will have is depth and that is at every position.

I agree Williams can be replaced the other issues will take time. I’ve been impressed with what Venerables is doing and who he is hiring but it’s going to take time. To get SEC ready and compete for the conference you’re at least 3 years away. You can do it sooner but you have to get a Cam Newton or Vince Young type talent to make it happen.

We're not 3 years away from anything.

This season was marred. We have a good record against the SEC and the only ass whippings were by teams that went on to win it all. CONVINCINGLY.

We'll run roughshod on all the teams that Bama and UGA do.

Every team but Bama better prepare their anuses.

From what I understand, there is a very limited number of "elite" DL and maybe even OL...at least as compared to other positions. So if one is going to improve in those two areas, they are going to have to steal recruits from those that are locking that limited number up at this point. If they are not able to acquire that same level, how are they going to "improve" enough to compete?

Get in early on undervalued prospects. Jordan Davis was a 3 star and is now likely a first round draft pick. That and start getting the big time recruits to pick them over the competition. And don’t rely on ancient history as a selling point when trying to convince a 17/18 year old to come play for you

I agree we are about three years away from being strong enough to win the SEC and that's if everything goes right. We would have been a heavy favorite to win the Dysfunctional 12 next season with Caleb Williams but now it's going to be a heaving crapshoot what happens. Assuming we get into the SEC for 2023, it's going to be hard to see OU winning anything other than a lot of games for awhile.......but no championship because of talent and depth. But, repeat but, the defense is the key. No more pinball football.

I'm hearing Caleb is coming to A&M. :dhd:
lol I believe it with your 20-30 million dollar spending this cycle per the ou247 staff member LOL.. Man it's still really rich hearing them complain about schools "buying" players..

negged cause posting this account is trash.. it's not even funny. This is beneath you..

.. actually it's not lol.. keep posting lol

Won't even go .500 your first SEC season. #bookmarket

4 non conference games the likes of an SEC schedule? i would guess they keep Oklahoma State the way SC and Clemson, GT and UGA, FSU and Florida play. plus 3 G5/FCS then games with teams like Vandy and Missouri I would be surprised if they ever went under.

I understand your viewpoint, but you will be shown to be wrong. :suds:
I bet another conference game is added with the addition of those two schools.
