Caleb Williams

JMO but I think it’s taking this much time because he is negotiating a big NIL deal wherever he winds up (USC makes the most sense iyam).
I’m interested to see what all he gets when he does sign with school ____, he could set the bar for future transfers who have had some success then move on.

Yeah, I think that may be part of it. Plus, it's got to be a bit of an ego feed to have so many people waiting for your decision.

One of the issues is that, at USC, Friday was the deadline to enroll for the Spring semester. So unless there's a loophole where he can enroll late, or as some have suggested...maybe he's already enrolled and USC is just keeping quiet so he can announce it himself, he may not be able to participate in Spring practice.

The story goes is that Oklahoma will sue USC for Lincoln Riley taking all these Oklahoma players. I’m not sure about the legality and how it all works but that’s the story. All I know is there’s a standoff going on between Oklahoma and USC and any lawsuit will have to do with “tampering” which I don’t know what that means but it makes sense since Oklahoma is a bunch of LBB’s.

Supposedly OU has evidence of Riley texting players to come to USC from when he was still at OU, on his OU phone which is state property

The only outcome for all of this is to go back to forcing a loss of a year of eligibility to transfers.

edit: The only outcome that isn't telling OU to put on their big boy panties, that is.

Did Buffalo sue KU for this last year?

Better yet, just put a fixed time period on the transfer portal. Let them move around if they want to go for the $$$, or more playing time, or to escape a bad situation or whatever. But no more of this holding everyone hostage. It's not fair to the coaches who are trying to put together teams or other players who need to know where they have a legitimate chance of transferring to if they want to make a move. I'm kind of glad CW is acting like this because it could force some structure to what is now turning into something like Keeping Up With The Kardashians.

he's not keeping anyone hostage, he can commit anytime he wants to this spring and enroll in June along with the rest of the high school players who aren't EEs. However most schools will find a way for him to enroll for the spring semester in the next week, should he choose the school he wants to go.

If you are a HC at a p5, let alone blueblood, school and you feel you are being held like a hostage..well you have bigger issues than waiting for a 19/20 year old player to make up his mind.

He doesn't really need the spring. He could just wait until Summer. Not sure how his team mates would feel about that though. Maybe he is going to XFL?

Couldn't disagree more. First of all, age has nothing to do with it. The player could be 45 years old; that's irrelevant. To the other point, a coach trying to decide whether or not wait on a certain player or sign someone else can have a tremendous impact on a team. It's the same with recruiting elite players out of high school. I like what Venables did; he just moved on. But I can see OU or any team that is drooling over a player having some issues with him postponing his decision for an extended period of time. Forget this involves Oklahoma; that's irrelevant. This is an issue for all schools and head coaches.

if you think Venables moved on for any reason other than he knew he had no shot, then I got some oceanfront property at ASU for ya.

Because Oklahoma fans are thin skinned bitches. They went from campaigning for him to win the Heisman after missing half the seasons to being the worst quarterback in the country all because the coach he wanted to play for dipped out on the Sooners.
Not all Sooner fans chief but if he wanted to play for Riley so bad why didn’t he sign with USC about 30 days ago?

Because maybe he doesn’t like LA/USC. But all I see here is non-stop butt hurt Sooner fans crying over Rattler leaving, Caleb leaving, Riley leaving. If you guys really thought you were in a better place now, you wouldn’t have these constant meltdowns like you are OD clones.

Yeah, I think the portal needs a couple of tweaks. I'd start with the transfer portal being closed during the season. Basically, imo, it should be open from the day after the NCG to the day before the first game of the season.

The way they talk, it seems like they should be thanking USC for doing them a favor. lol

With a 3 month wait before being able to participate in games ;) leave your team the day before camp starts, eat a bag of dicks

No, that's way too long. I'd support from the day after the NCG to June 10. A guy should be free as a bird to make a decision and cut his deal during that five months period of time. It gets them past Spring training but it allows the teams to conduct their summer training programs knowing who will be around the next season. It's unrealistic to let people just say adios a week before the season. Or the night before the first game. Gotta make some rules that allow for freedom to move but also require a certain level of responsibility on the player's part to whatever team he plays for during the current season and a reasonable amount of time leading up to the next season.
