Can we stop pretending that James Franklin is anything but an average coach now?

Franklin is 10-9 the last two seasons

I will give him kudos for what he did at Vandy. You can't take that away.
He got to play an easier schedule in the SEC. Now he has to face a Murderer's Row schedule in the B1G. Gordon Gee said so.

Matt Campbell says hi as well.
Meh , this season yea prob so but in your heart of hearts and gut/immediate reaction, if I ask you , do you think he would do a better job at Penn State than Franklin what would ya say? Cause I’d say yes.

I mean, the SEC East was pretty weak then (still is) and he is in arguably the second toughest now.

Maybe, maybe not. But he doesn't turn them into Ohio State.

He's a good coach and has turned around a program that normally hopes for an upset or two just to make a bowl game, but you can argue Franklin did more at Vandy. Both are decent coaches whose upside at high profile schools is 8-4.

Most CFB coaches are average then so moot point

Don't see much changing with Campbell.

What that tells me is Matt Campbell is similar to Dantonio where he can turn in good seasons but can’t turn that into improved recruiting.

Well it's Iowa St. for one. They're competing for in-state recruits with Iowa. Much the same that Sparty is competing with Michigan and Ohio St for Michigan in-stater's.

There may also be a level of other coaches telling recruits that Campbell will likely be taking a different job and may not be their coach in their 1, 2, 3, 4, years in Ames.
