He finally felt comfortable enough to come out. Maybe he has a dude he wants to openly date. This at least let's him control it a little. At least this way it all comes out instead of "rumors" circulating for weeks.

Spacey was being accused of diddling a minor and then tried to use his coming out as a way to take attention away from his pedo accusations. I think everyone already knew Spacey was gay, his coming out was just as shocking as Barry Manilow's

HENDERSON, Nev. -- Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib on Monday became the first active NFL player to come out as gay.
Nassib, 28, made the announcement in an Instagram post.

"What's up people?" Nassib posted. "I'm at my house here in West Chester, Pennsylvania. I just want to take a quick moment to say that I'm gay. I've been meaning to do this for a while now, but I finally feel comfortable enough to get it off my chest. I really have the best life, I've got the best family, friends and job a guy could ask for.

In a statement, NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said the league "is proud of Carl for courageously sharing his truth today."
"Representation matters." Goodell said. "But I've got to be honest, I'm a bit disappointed it was Carl that came out. My wife thinks he's really cute and I was hoping to pay him to fuck her while I whacked off and watched from the closet with an industrial sized butt-plug in my ass. Anyway, I guess I need to go call up Tim Tebow now."
