I'll start this one out.

2 years before I got my license, in 1974, a friend of my Mother was selling her 1969 GTX with the 440 Automatic.
Looked like this. She almost bought it for me, even though it would be 2 years, but then thought better of it.

Didn't want it sitting around for 2 years.

So is life.

In about 1990, a friend of my Grandmother was selling her 1965, 1 owner, 34,000 mile, garage kept, Impala Super Sport 327 with Automatic. She had to hang up her keys

Almost made a trade for this 1971 GTO 455 HO, a dealer had.
He sold it before I could put that together.
Looked like this.

Guy told me he'd hold it till the end of the week for me then sold it out from underneath me.

I know I've mentioned it before, but this was my older brother's car in 1977. He was stationed at Fort Bragg and wanted a Vette so he told me he would sell this 67 Firebird w/400 long block and Muncie 4-speed to me when I went in the USAF and look for a late 60's Stingray.

Not sure what possessed him to let someone borrow the car, but he did and his buddy totaled it :L

Odds are your young ass would have trashed it.

But, if you got it and kept it up the next 4-5 decades you would be bathing in Champagne today. Ha
 
78 two-tone Anniversary Vette

Dude standing outside the bank asked me if I liked Vettes. Hell yeah. Okay I have one over here for 10 grand.

Drove it, shocked at the low price, said I'd take it, went inside the bank to get the money and do the deal and dude says "uh, about the title..." :L
 
Dad had one of these a few decades back. Was moving on around 2000 and I had a chance to get it. I couldn’t beat the trade in with cash, even with the family discount.

1974 V12 E Type. I had stars in my eyes. $5500 in 1977. Got scared off by tuen ups, it had 4 2 barrel carbs that required "frequent" tuneups.
