Where were you when Mt. St. Helens blew on this day back in 1980?

I was a kid but this was maybe the first big news story I remember from childhood.

I also had an aunt that lived in Tacoma so this hit close to home a bit.

That might just be me as well….as first news story from childhood goes.

No…wait….three mile island was first. Considering we lived an hour from there. But, I do remember very light dusting of ash on cars on day from Mt St Helen’s….even though we were thousands of miles away.

Better ash from that than three mile island I guess lol

I don’t really remember 3 mi island other than my parents telling me about nightly news reports on whether any radiation migrated towards our area. Mt St Helens was the first story I independently remember
