CFB National Championship Droughts

The Helms Foundation though? At least claim a UPI title, or something
Meh. When it comes to old school natties, I prefer looking at resumes other than what a bunch of ignorant old farts voted for. But really and truly, if it happened before 1998, it’s fake anyways

I'm guessing those old farts were, in fact, actually looking at resumes back when they were voting.

They got it wrong shockingly often though. I mean, they voted Minnesota as the 1960 champs when there were like 5 more deserving teams. The retroactive claim by Washington is more valid than the one Minnesota has

Alabama should be on there at 2

Why is Iowa listed on there at all? The rightful winner in 58 was LSU.

IDK, the modern championships are kind of lame. Georgia is out here facing teams that didn't even win their conference, and got blasted in their last conference game. Seems equally unfit.
At least they won it on the field. Not like some pre-BCS teams that likely would have gotten their asses whupped if they have to play 2 of the other top ranked 4 teams.

That said, I have no problem acknowledging all NCs, pre-BCS and post.

They were, but you have to remember the times we were living in. There was about 2 games on TV every weekend, one being Notre Dame. I actually watched those games so I could follow the scores of the other games. If I didn't do that, I wouldn't know who won until the next day when I could read the paper. Some of you yutes have no idea how little information we had. Hell, we watch Monday Night Football for the halftime highlights of the pro games. It's the only way would could see just a play or two of many of the teams.

Those voting were lucky to see a dozen games in a season. There was no tape, no video, no way to decide if a team from the deep south might be better than some blue blood. There was also a strong bias toward the Midwest teams v. the southern teams. Look, I am a huge fan of the 60-80 Nebraska, Oklahoma, ND, etc. teams. That's the football I grew up with. But those voting had so little knowledge about what anyone else was doing other than a handful of teams they could see that there is no way they were knowledgeable enough to make sound judgments.

Just confirmation that Bama is falsely claiming 2017 along with about 6 other titles.

I like how oregon isn’t listed because it’s not a drought if you’ve never won to begin with.

They claim one in 1982. They have a decent argument since they were 11-0-1 while Penn State was 11-1
Penn State had wins over #3 Nebraska and #4 Georgia.

fuck Penn State and that entire state but they deserved that natty
