CFB Playoff Rankings Released

What happens in this scenario if FSU wins out, and Texas or OU wins out?

That would be the nightmare scenario, right? FSU would be undefeated, so they are in.

UO, Bama, Texas, and OU would all have losses, so one of them would be out is my guess.

UW, UGA, and the TM v. tOSU winners would be undefeated, so they would be in.
cool to think about now.. but there will be losses as always and we get a clearer picture heading into championship weekend

The bozo talking heads are already wanting to put Oregon ahead of Washington even though Washington just beat Oregon a couple of weeks ago. It'll obviously work itself out in the end but its hilarious trying to see idiots like Desmond Howard justifying having Oregon ranked over a undefeated Washington team that they lost to. (Desmond of course doesn't have Ohio State in the top 4 as well)
Desmond Howard is one of the biggest idiots in CFB. His homerism aside, he's still an idiot.

Notre Dame and Penn State "CLEARLY OVERRATED!!!"

LSU who has no defense and needed a last second FG to beat a terrible Arkansas team at home, CLEARLY THE GREATEST 2 LOSS TEAM!

No doubt ... the scenario posted was schools winning out.

It will be interesting next year when the focus switches to byes and seeding, not getting in.

The only reason I was surprised with tOSU was because I don't think the PSU and ND are all that good. They get credit for quality wins that I am not sure are quality wins.

That said, and as you point out, there isn't that Elite team this year that just jumps out at you. And, UGA and UM have had easy schedules so it's not like they can be overly critical of the ND and PSU wins.

I want to say the FSU and UDub have better wins, but do we really know that UO is any good?

This is the problem with 132+ teams and the fact they don't play each other. It's why the 12 team CFP is going to be great. We won't care about any of this next year ... all the teams we are talking about will get their shots.

If top 15 teams aren't quality, then who is? Who should be ranked ahead of where PSU and ND are? Nobody thinks anyone is good, but when push comes to shove can't come up with anyone better.

The Michigan fans who are knocking Penn State now will be touting them as a "quality win" after next weekend if they beat them. That's the funny thing.

I watched the tOSU v. PSU game. PSU looked terrible to me. Their O is horrible. And with all due respect to ND, you could easily be a 3 loss team.

Sure, playing ND and PSU is better than not playing a top 20 team - hello UGA and UM - but it shows to me that this year we had very few big cross-division games against teams that are actually good. In the past, we've had top 10 teams who played each other earlier. All that didn't happen this year. That will make the last 4 games kind of wild.

PSU is about what PSU has always been at their best under Franklin, they are good but they aren't close to a "great" team.

They almost always play us tough though, 2015 was the last time we truly blew them out.

Every team has looked terrible outside of Michigan and to a lesser extent OSU. And a lot of teams could be a lot of things, but ND is 7-2 with both losses to top 15 teams and a win over a top 25 team(by a million).

Ohio State has at least beaten it's scrubs fairly competently, may not have looked pretty at times, but we were never really in danger of losing to any of them at all.

People talking about FSU over us, FSU needed OT to beat a ass juice Clemson team and was fortunate to beat Boston College.

Washington struggled with Arizona, Arizona State & Stanford.

You got some out here acting like FSU and Washington have been some unstoppable forces though.

Yeah, almost every team has struggled. UGA with Auburn. Oregon with Texas Tech. The ones you mentioned. Bama with USF and Arkansas. Texas with Houston. OU with UCF. PSU with IU. It goes on and on.

As far as some of these factors go, this team looks like trash and you barely beat them. Blah, blah, and so forth and so on. The "insert team name here" shouldn't be ranked here or there. I will use the Penn State/Ohio State game as an example. Oh man, Ohio State barely beat and overrated, scrub Penn State team. Do you think Penn State woke up that morning and said, "Hey guys let's do the best we can to go 1 for 16 on 3rd downs"? Do you think Allar had a conversation with himself and said, "Man, I will be satisfied if I go 18 for 42 today against the Buckeyes"? Sometimes, just maybe, THE team is the reason that the OTHER team looked like trash. Maybe Penn State looked like trash is because tOSU had the receivers covered, tOSU defense in the QB's face or sacking him, tOSU knowing how to wrap up and actually tackle, and tOSU getting in the backfield, etc. Penn State had 240 total yards, was held to 12 points (their lowest of the season by far), held to 1.9 yards per rush in this game, and was sacked four times. I mean, shit, what else you want the Buckeyes to do in this game?

Texas/ou need help.

I don't think Michigan beats Penn St. this season. Penn St's struggle with Indiana was most likely a hangover game following Ohio St.

Penn St also likely changed up all of their sideline signals 'short notice' for the Indiana game.

Michigan's illegal sign stealing days are over, the game's in Happy Valley, and Penn St actually plays offense and defense.

Texas/ou need help.

Agreed and I wouldn't have thought that when UT beat Bama. A lot of football to play, but if it goes chalk it's likely the B12 is left out.
IF UT wins out.. they are in.. Some of these schools are gonna have a WTF loss over the next month.. which may also include myhorns

**Think ou needs the most help, thanks to it's shitastic OOC, they have to win out, preferably with UT winning out and rematching in the CCG

Again, we were talking about a scenario where there isn't a WTF moment. For example, I truly think that the PAC teams could all lose another game and their champion could be a 2 loss team. They would be out.

UGA wins out, they are in.
UM/tOSU winner wins out, they are in.
FSU wins out, they are in.
Washington wins out, they are in.

UT/OU wins out, they aren't in based on the above.

Realistically:

- UGA has a chance to run the table, but has to play @UTjr, and then Bama/LSU in CCG.
- UM/tOSU winner is likely to win out because how bad the B1G West is.
- FSU looks like they will win out - @Pitt, Miami, UNA, UF - then likely play Louisville in the CCG.
- Not sure that any PAC team will run the table ... OSU and WSU are going to be a pain, USC and Utah are going to win one they shouldn't and the two AZ schools could actually surprise someone. Then UDub and UO have to play each other. Just can't see the PAC making it. That's your best bet.

- So, if you run the table, you probably get in - FSU, PAC, or UGA likely to lose a game.

Again, we were talking about a scenario where there isn't a WTF moment.
my fault...

No one has looked like a true #1. Maybe Michigan, but they have had no tough test yet, so it’s hard to know what they are truly made of.

It shouldn’t matter, but I wonder if the sign stealing allegations influenced the committee’s decision at all.

And I couldn’t be mad if Georgia was kept#1. They are back to back champs. They have talent up and down the roster.

Ohio state #1 was a surprise, but I bet we drop as Michigan and Georgia plays some better opponents down the stretch.
I think Georgia deserves the #1 spot, but I am okay with ohio state there. ohio state and Michigan will be settled on the gridiron (the way it should be), unlike 2020 when we wimped out.
