GAME CFP ROSE BOWL: #1 OREGON DUCKS vs #8 Ohio State Buckeyes

What différence does it make how large they are if they are just as fast lol

they're top 60 prospects for a reason
If they are just as fast as the speed rushers -- then they get drafted in the top 3 in the NFL draft.

See Aiden Hutchinson for an example. Those guys are very few and far between. Think Joey Bosa, Nick Bosa, Chase Young as guys who are both speed and power.

Sawyer and JTT are more set the edge type of pass rushers. It will be interesting to see how they fare against Texas. Though I'm hearing Texas has a chance to be without both of their starting tackles. Or at the very least -- they will playing injured.

If Sawyer and JTT can get pressure and Ohio can only rush 4 against Texas. That will be huge for you guys!!

Do you think "speed rushers" for ASU run sub 4.6?

They don't.

ASU weighed 60 lbs less on average for their DL compared to Texas. They use the undersized DL to try to win with speed.

I'm not saying Ohio won't be able to pressure Texas. I'm saying the Texas OL is built very much like Michigan's OL with their size and physicality and that has given Ohio fits. Texas OL handled our DL pretty good when we played them. I said at the beginning of the CFP -- having played Texas, Oregon, Ohio and Indiana. Texas was the most complete team we faced.

Texas is dealing with injuries to both of their tackles. Their starting RT missed the ASU game and their star OL, their LT Banks injured his ankle and missed time in the ASU game. So if they are out or hindered by injury. That is great news for Ohio.

Other good thing with Texas is -- they lost their top two RB's for the year. They still have solid RB's, but nothing close what Ohio has in their backfield.

I'm not saying Texas can't win the LOS against their DEs, I just think this is an odd take around smaller and at absolute best equally fast DEs from ASU. JTT could easily be a 3 4 LB, Dorbah and Smith won't make it to the league as DEs.

Their scheme worked okay, but Ewers still threw for over 300 yards.

Focus on shutting down the run. Then the pressure on Ewers will be easier to come by.

Considering they couldnt run on ASU id like to think its going to have to be a matter of Ewers beating OSU with his arm.

That said, somehow Michigan has the magic formula running the ball on OSU so thats where id start if im texas

The magic formula is holding and apparently the entire B1G can hold against Ohio St without getting penalized. I guess scUM just did it better lol. Not surprising

The scheme worked great for most of the game. Ewers had 77 yards on the first series (2 plays) of the game and a 28 yard TD + a 25 yard TD in the two OTs. The rest of the game, Ewers really struggled against ASU's scheme. Obviously, those big plays in the first series and in the OTs counted and are the reason Texas escaped with the win, but ASU's defense played lights out in the Peach Bowl for the majority of the game. ASU dominated Texas in every meanigful category (except for passing yards) during the game (total yards, rushing yards, first downs, time of possession, etc.). Unless Day turtles up again, I think Ohio State will smoke Texas in the Cotton Bowl.

Stings. This one stings. This whole scenario is total sus, how a #1 team gets this. Should get SMU, Indiana, Clemson or Boise. Not a team who just got done playing a game at home and got things figured out
As lousy are your duckies played, they wouldn't have beaten Boise...unless Boise played just as lousy. Same for SMU, Indiana and Clem. Those three played poor first round games so you might have gotten by them. But if those three play decently and you guys throw a clunker in like you did in the Rose Bowl, you lose to any of them.

I just feel like OSU has a tight matchup coming and Texas has the athletes to do that

If PSU beats ND that is a very favorable matchup if PSU beats texas.

Im sure ABC is rooting against OSU/PSU

Start fast. Build a lead. Force Texas to throw to catch up.

That is the formula that has worked the last 2 games.

Rushing 42 times for under 200 yards isn't really all that impressive. It wasn't our defense that lost that game. Michigan got good yardage running the ball in the second half when our defense was getting gassed bc our offense couldn't do shit

If the Buckeyes really want to truck with Fexas, they should sign Skattebo to a two game contract (like they do in the NBA). / sarcasm
