GAME CFP ROSE BOWL: #1 OREGON DUCKS vs #8 Ohio State Buckeyes

As lousy are your duckies played, they wouldn't have beaten Boise...unless Boise played just as lousy. Same for SMU, Indiana and Clem. Those three played poor first round games so you might have gotten by them. But if those three play decently and you guys throw a clunker in like you did in the Rose Bowl, you lose to any of them.
He's just trying to get high on copium.

He can't ever accept when a better team wins. Even when it's twice in the same season.

In this case he has it in his head that they proved they were way better than Ohio State with a 1 point victory at home. A game that saw Ohio State give up 2 turnovers and give up quite a few penalties and still only lost by 1 on the road.

What we saw in the RB was a team that hadn't had to face really getting punched in the mouth take way too long to adjust and get their feet back under them.

He can't accept that it was a talent and coaching disparity so it can only be an unfair system that robbed them.

He's going to UCFacts his way to buying a championship ring off of Etsy and wear it daily.

If any of the 12 teams decides to throw in a clunker game in the playoffs, they lose.

Those teams might get by winning some games in the regular season, but not in the playoffs.

And we’ve had several that decide to self destruct in the playoffs over the years. We get pretty good games when both decide to play well.

Everyone needs to be humbled with some pecker thirst every once in a while.

@NewPhoneWhoDis is hilarious first Ohio State is “too soft” now they are too strong and not fast enough! Lol
Against Michigan -- yes, you are too soft. That's been proven for 4 years now.

Texas has an OL built in the same ilk as Michigan. They are really big and physical. Speed rusher is the cryptonite for Offensive Lines like that.

Texas could be without both tackles for the game though. Their starting RT missed the ASU game after getting hurt against Clemson. Their All-American LT was hurt in the Clemson game and re-injured it against ASU missing time.

That is the match up I can't wait to see. Ohio has been using the same defensive strategy Michigan used against them in the CFP and it has been working. They are only rushing 4 and not really blitzing. Makes it tough on QB's, if you can control the line of scrimmage with 4 and drop extra defenders.

Banks is a stud. He doesn’t really have a weakness (in college). There is a reason he is considered OT #1.

Williams is a big SOB. He is can cave in a DL. He can struggle with speed

Goosby is the back-up. Super athletic. He has been good in pass protection in limited action. Dancing bear type that is not the best drive blocker. Right now better in pass protection than run blocking

You know I wasn't in favor if expanding the playoffs to begin with. Lots of folks expecting all those extra games to be at least as good as what we had in the 4 team version. It won't be. It can't be.

We had quite a few clunker games in the 4 team era and now that we have double digit ranked teams with 2, and I'm sure at some point 3 losses already going in and adding more of those undefeated or one loss teams that played total shit schedules is just going to make for a lot of bad, boring games.

Expecting fans to travel three or four times now to support their teams once the novelty wears off is also a tall order. I can foresee half empty stadiums for some of those playoff bowl games in the future.

There will be some solid games here and there and hopefully we end up with better championship games than some in the 4 game era, but they will be the exception IMO.

Absolutely there will be upsets and lower teams that move on and eventually win it. That doesn't really do anything for me.

Banks hurt his ankle, right?

And Williams missed the ASU game with an injury, right?

Banks has been dealing with ankle. Williams has a knee issue I believe. Majors, center, left the Clemson game also (with Williams). He did not have a good game and is likely not a 100%

People just need to be honest. You never know how games will play out. Everyone cleared their schedule to sit down and watch Oregon vs Ohio State. Turned out you only needed to clear 20 minutes out of your life for that ass whipping. There will be blowouts, upsets, and great games in the playoffs over time, just like the 4 team playoff and regular season

Teams shouldn’t be allowed to win in the playoffs with a clunker of a game.

SMU had a clunker against Duke and got by with it. A playoff team like Penn State ain’t Duke!

Bad luck for Texas. You OL was healthy all year and that game against Clemson -- you had 3 offensive linemen injured.

I was very impressed with your OL's pass protection against Michigan. Michigan was able to limit your running game, outside of the one end around to Wingo (I think that was his name) -- he had like a 50 yard run.

If Texas OL is missing starters -- they will have some trouble with Ohio. If they are able to play -- I like Texas's chances.

There will always be marquee games in any playoff format. We all watched the first round out of curiosity and a love of the game. I doubt I'll be as inclined next year given how bad they were this year unless there is a first round marquee game.

Texas/ASU ended up being a good game and we almost watched yet another late game crapping of the bed of a good but not great Texas team. Most who don't have a team in the playoffs think that was really the only great game so far out of 8.

Again, I bet you in the next couple of years teams will begin to travel far less to those early round games.

It's just my opinion that 4 was fine. If you wanted to go 6 or 8 at least those aren't as bad as 12. 12 isn't as bad as 16 etc. Just how I see it. So far I feel like the outcomes have lived down to my views of the format.

Why was Boise state given the #3 seed in this thing exactly? I feel like that messed up the matchups a bit.

Here is the thing about 4 teams. If we go by the commitee’s rankings the final 4 teams would have been Oregon, Georgia, Texas, and PSU. ND and OSU were out.

I'd have been fine with that.

The more teams you add the more the shift is from best season to who is playing better now. Neither is "right". Just different ways of handing out a trophy.

I've laid out why I'm not fond of more, but I have no interest in trying to talk anyone else out of different views.

If anyone else likes 12 or wants more I've got no problem with it.
