CFP wish list (post w5)

Kirby is the worst second half coach of all time, but I don’t remember having a 21 point first half lead against Saban. Wouldn’t shock me in the least bit if it happened this year though

Let me be explicitly clear for you el dunce. For a 1 loss Alabama to miss the college football playoff this is what would need to happen:

-an undefeated Georgia ( or Kentucky lol) beats them in the SEC champ game

-wake forest goes undefeated winning the ACC

-OU or junior goes undefeated winning the B12

-the B1G champ is undefeated

Even if all this happens I’m still very skeptical they leave out 1 loss bama.

Given their recent history, the tide will get the benefit of the doubt over every undefeated G5 and every one loss P5 this year. I’m not saying it’s right or wrong. I’m saying that’s the way it is.

If it’s a tight game I’d say a playoff loss is better but if you get blown out then a win in a meaningless bowl is better.

LOL, when Bama beats Arkansas by 30 the only chance Texas has of getting in over 1-loss Bama would be a plane crash. For fuck's sake you barely beat a TCU team that barely escaped losing to Cal.

Glad we only have one more week of Texas being back.

bro why are you lumping me in with this?? I love LOVE my Horns, but they aren't a CFP caliber school right now. Too many issues at DE, S, and LB.. Don't want to get to the OL or WR play just yet..

However I do think this is enough to not only get to the CCG, but win it.

The Big 12 is down so you very well could win the conference. However let’s be honest that ain’t a big deal.

It's a big deal for us though.. Sark does it year 1 that's some actual progress. Plus it's good to know we started the conference winning it, and we leave it after winning it.

You think you guys are out after this year and not going to have to stick out the whole network contract?

It’s been pretty quiet on that front the SEC released next year’s conference schedule so I think this isn’t the last year.

it's been real quiet on the Big12 side too.. they will hammer a deal out and we move along. My only slight worry is FOX.. they and ESPN split the first two tiers.. I can see FOX trying to hold UT/ou to the contract because their schedule will take a hit.
ESPN wouldn't stand in the way since the additions would be on a discount compared to when the new contract kicks in.
I'm just keeping the faith.. and with every week seeing the shit officiating, the admin should be pushing this

I think (and yes badly hope) you and Boomer are here 1 more year. That not only keeps another year of current payments happening but allows the B12 to try and negotiate to get the 4 G5’s in in 2023. Plus it likely makes the B12 office more apt to make a deal then then this year for you guys to bolt in 2022.

I know I know, wishful thinking.

1 loss Bama is 100% getting in over Wake Forest in any scenario. Lol.. Clemson has at least 3 losses if Wake beats them and the other division champ will be laughable. They would run the "Bama had to play UGA in the SEC title game and Wake played nobody all year" argument into the ground.

It’d be an interesting predicament the committee would be in. Of course most would be of the opinion bama would kill Wake and I believe the committee would use that reason as to put bama in. But Wake would have an unblemished record and a Power 5 conference championship to its resume. It would seriously raise some questions as to how the committee decides And how this shouldn’t be a popularity contest.

But we both know this will never happen. Truthfully I expect both the B12 and ACC conference champs to have at least one loss and if PSU beats Iowa this weekend I fully expect the B1G too as well.

The committee's "criteria" flip flops and changes based on how the situation at the end of every year shakes out. Thats part of the problem with it. They can claim they have "set" criteria all they want, but we all know thats a load of crap. They just change it to fit their choices if there is a somewhat controversial decision.
