CFP won't expand...

No matter what happens this year there's always going to be an asterisk next to every accomplishment. I actually think removing the playoff this year makes more sense, since it's possible we'll be dealing with more cancellations by then. Having a BCS game this year would be better.

There should be an asterisk applied... to show that this was the toughest year to win a championship. Few fans, pandemic, testing, lack of practices and a reduced schedule.. THis season more than ever, is really a school wide effort.

If they went to a BCS style bowl season again.. That wouldn't be fair for the schools that have played a minimum of 10 games (hopefully)

Thanks Pac12 for your request, “Maybe in a few years” :airquotes:

Expanded playoffs make no sense until we get four solid teams that deserve to be there. I mean seriously the most we have ever gotten in the playoff that deserved it were three. There hasn’t been six teams in any year that had any business being there and definitely not eight.

If it wasn’t for Clemson you probably replay the SEC Championship game again last year.

How many SEC teams do you guys want? Oh wait you don’t want to do on merit you want automatic births for conference champs. GTFO

Man up and prove you belong. If Auburn can’t get their ass in under the existing system then they don’t need to be there.

Agreed, the only season where it could have been 6 was the first CFP.. I don't like TCU but they were legit that season

Other than that people like to cry just to cry.. We really had people upset that ou was the 4th team last season.. people really thought Oregon or Utah was some type of night and day difference lol.

Just use the pre season top 25 and playoff from that.

Everyone else stay home

They should do it for at least this season....

The thing that I think an 8 team playoff can help with is scheduling. Although, that does seem to be improving lately.

Give me one good reason why that they should?

After every P5 team has had 4 games I think most of us could come up with the 4 teams that should be there and wouldn't be off by much. There is a 90% chance Alabama, Clemson, and Ohio State will be in the playoffs and whoever is 4th isn't going to shock the world and beat everyone else.

The group that possibly could get into the 4th spot:

Texas - If they are undefeated and if they get their shit straight and win out then they should be there (probably will drop a game and won't matter)
Florida - If they go undefeated in conference play they should be in even if they lose the SEC CG
Miami - They look like world beaters but let's see what they do against Clemson but it's a long shot.
Georgia - I don't think they get their shit together enough.
Oklahoma - A lot of teams have to lose in order to erase a home loss against Kansas State
Auburn - They have to run the table and not very probably with their schedule and issues
Miss State - The Dark Horse but if they perform as they did against LSU and come out of the season with say just one close loss to Alabama then they should get consideration. Not very probable though.

There isn't a PAC team strong enough to win it all in the playoffs so we shouldn't waste our time.

B1G - I'm not discounting someone else out of the B1G other than Ohio State could make a run like a Penn State or a Wisconsin but I just don't see it happening.

My best guess is you are looking at two SEC teams this year if Texas stumbles. If you expand to 6 you might get three if they didn't do something retarded like automatic conference champion bids (which is a waste of our time).

Explain the scheduling thing to me because I don't see what you are getting at.

Top 24 do a bracket-style season...I could live with that as long as there were loser brackets and we didn't get cheated on the number of games.

Because, the Big Ten and Pac aren't playing as many games as the other Conferences and it's gonna make the job harder at picking the teams without the same sample size of games.

Explain the scheduling thing to me because I don't see what you are getting at.
If the conference champ gets a guaranteed (or my preference...a restricted guaranteed) spot, then they theoretically would be more inclined to schedule a more difficult ooc since a loss will only affect potential seeding.

I could see that outside of the SEC but let's be real if you are in the SEC West how are you going to schedule any tougher?

Auburn plays Alabama, LSU, Georgia every single year and for the last 4 years we have played Clemson twice and the PAC champion to open the season.

My personal opinion is the committee should put a massive emphasis on SOS and put a two-loss SEC team in over an undefeated PAC or Big 12 champ and then they will get serious about scheduling. The committee can fix this without changing anything they just have to have the will to do it.

If losing OOC games don't affect inclusion, they basically become exhibition games, and meaningless.

That ain't going to change anything. Everyone will know by the sample size that is presented.

It affects seeding.

Also should note that I'd prefer home field for the first round in this case.

It was an absolute joke where Auburn finished in the final CFP rankings last year. Especially when Oregon finished 6th. Oregon beat two ranked teams, in which those ranked teams had a combined 1 ranked win. Oregon lost to an UR team. Auburn lost to 3 top 10 teams by a combined 21 points and nobody played lsu better than them. If the CFP committee did that last year, I'm afraid they will never take sos into account as much as they should.

Seeding doesn't mean that much when you're only seeding 8 teams. Honestly, if it came to that, I'd sit down guys so they don't get hurt. What's the point in playing a guy like Fields, if you can still make the CFP? Just play him in conference games. 4 is the perfect number. Never has the 5th best ranked had a legit argument to make it. Teams like UGA, Oregon, Baylor and Wisconsin last year don't really deserve to play for a title.
